Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler together on one exquisitely moving song. Really, need I say more? The world is by far “Better Off” now that the two East Coast singer songwriters and producers have united on the twilight ballad, a heart-string tugging, melancholic stirring lament about star-crossed lovers and calamitous love. Chelsea Cutler’s wispy, supple voice and Jeremy Zucker’s poignant crooning transfix us beautifully from a lush ethereal sonic pasture sown with tender guitar strums and softly chiseled, gently floating beats. A sad yet blissful sigh escapes the lips as the final notes of this impeccable tear-jerker fades away. Better Off is available from major outlets, here.

We head to Columbia for a wispy wistful turn down as producer Argüello takes us on a twilight waltz with his gorgeous new single, Twilight. This downtempo aria features gently lilting, graceful floating vocals by Los Angeles’ Tara Louise

Argüello shows off his dexterous ability to meld organic strings with dreamy production on this tenderly billowing future beats and R&B pop heartrender. The gorgeous single is a free download, here.

OFFICIAL VID: Green Day – The Forgotten (Twilight Saga soundtrack)

October 30, 2012

Billy Joe Armstrong may be deeply mired in rehab and a ton of endless media attention (leave the man alone!). Green Day may have had to cancel a ton of tour dates. BUT the punk rock staples are still keeping those gears turning endlessly. Here’s the brand spanking new full length song and video for Green Day’s contribution to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn pt 2 soundtrack. The clip for the solemn song The Forgotten blends together live Green Day concert footage and Twilight scenes, which is a little odd, but I guess it pleases both the Green Day fans and the endless droves of Twilight tween fans. Team Edward? Team Jacob? Team… BILLY! It’s a pleasant, sensitive ballad. Seriously, best wishes to the man and his road to recovery.

OFFICIAL VID: Florence + the Machine – Never Let Me Go

March 7, 2012

I apologize for having to post the video from a Perez Hilton entry, but the youtube version that was floating around earlier was taken down. This is the only one I can find now. If a clearer, better version gets released, I’ll swap. Florence + the Machine’s latest single is the sweeping, grand, beautiful, heart wrenching Never Let Me Go. The video itself has the usual darkness you’d associate with F+tM and depicts the always graceful and goddesslike Florence Welch hanging out with Twilight star Jamie Campbell Bower. Ceremonials is most certainly an incredible album, almost on par with Lungs, and Never Let Me Go is only one of so many amazing baroque pop tracks from the brilliant Florence.

UPDATE: The Perez Hilton video is gone, and every other version is still gone… this is the latest one I could find still up, possibly the ONLY version up.

Endtapes

The Joy Formidable is on the latest Twilight soundtrack, which is a very impressive thing since the series picks some real good talents to grace their albums. However, I don’t feel the artists always put out their best work when they have to rush to create something within the boundaries of a film’s themes in a set time. Here’s The Joy Formidable’s track Endtapes on the Breaking Dawn part 1 soundtrack. It’s signature sounding stuff and pretty good, but it’s no Whirring or Abacus or many of the other amazing tracks that were on their debut album. I still like it though.

OFFICIAL VID: Christina Perri – A Thousand Years

A Thousand Years is off the upcoming soundtrack for Breaking Dawn (yes, out of the Twilight series). There are definitely some other tracks I’m looking forward to hearing off the soundtrack. They certainly know to pick some great artists to write songs for the soundtrack. The song is a pretty ballad. There’s nothing too stand out or special about it at all, but it’s very nice to listen to some good old fashioned sappy love songs once in awhile. There are two official videos, the first is the actual music video, the second is the official lyric video utilizing some artsy ways to show the lyrics. Both are below.
