There are several ways the word “neutral” can be fined. It could mean unbiased, or un-opinionated. Or it could mean bland, dull, and unremarkable. None of these descriptions apply to Zach Salmi, a rising producer from the small city of Peoria, IL who makes music as neutral. We already noticed this when Zach released his remix of Evalyn’s Filthy Rich a few weeks ago, so we’re as far from unbiased about his effervescent sound as possible. Neutral. now flexes his production chops with a gorgeous debut original named Turn It Around, an elegant and graceful yet honeyed bubbling future pop treat that will steal your heart away. Its a celestial flickering gem featuring sultry vocals by an enigmatic siren. Turn It Around is out now on BonFire Records. Stream/purchase here.

German duo FlicFlac have done an incredible job remixing Brooklyn indie pop band Lucius’ Turn It Around. That’s right. FlicFlac. Remix. Lucius. Lucius’ brand of jangly, folksy, retro pop music isn’t usually what would come to mind when thinking of prime candidates for electronic remixes. Of course, the talented FlicFlac would know how to work with this, creating a more dance oriented, upbeat rendition that doesn’t stray far from the original’s catchy hand clapping tendencies. It’s dance pop magic! The song is off of Lucius’ brilliant debut album Wildewoman from last year, and I’m still aglow from catching Lucius tour for it. if this is the first time you’ve heard of FlicFlac, you’d better check out a couple recent choice cuts below, including FlicFlac & Bearson’s Picture Remix as well as their White Tiger Remix. These guys are superb.

OFFICIAL VID: Lucius – Turn It Around

Brooklyn indie pop band Lucius gave us a wonderful debut album last year in the form of Wildewoman. It easily made its way into my top albums of 2013 list with its jangly, catchy tunes that bordered folk pop at times, dream pop other times. It was filled with amazing First Aid Kit like harmonies and Cults like spunkiness. I had the pleasure of seeing Lucius live at a sold out show in San Francisco earlier this year, and what a treat that was. They even performed a stripped down encore from the center of the crowd at the end. Wildewoman track Turn It Around is one of the most stomping tunes on the album, fueling an irresistible urge to foot tap and hand clap. Today, Lucius released a stylish new video for the track, expressing their vintage pop style with flair.
