It makes perfect sense that this next gem is named Getaway. After all, it all but takes me away from the stress of the work week to a halcyon sonic Eden. I’d love to stay in this verdant oasis forever and dance for all eternity, rather than come back down to reality. Getaway is a velutinous collaboration between Beirut’s Imad and Germany’s Wave Wave. They’ve also enlisted Beirut vocalist Samia on beautiful vocals and Romania’s White Trumpet on airy caressing horns. The multi-national affair’s pristine deep house is saturated with a twinkling effervescence and crisp rumbling bass. You can download Getaway for free, here. Support via Spotify and other outlets, here.

Brassy, jazzy, and frisky are tantamount when it comes to Brooklyn duo Brasstracks. Take those characteristics, heat them up, and what do you get? Brasstracks’ aptly named new single, Fever. The pair scintillates us with a steamy groove and crushes it with a bounty of snazzy chic charm on their new future funk and hip hop jam. Brasstracks masterfully delivers their signature live instrumentation alongside their tempestuous electronic production. Fever is out now and available, here.

Some big things happened in regards to JR JR this year. First, they changed their name from Dale Earnhardt, Jr Jr to JR JR. Second, they dropped a fantastic self titled album, one which included a favorite indie song of 2015 of mine named Gone. It’s such a happy go lucky, jovial pop treat (at least on the surface before you pay attention to its latent dour lyrics). Swiss producer Nicolas Haelg affords us a beaming revisit of the song with a remix that trumpets and springs with lush exuberance.

I don’t know what it is about trap, but with each passing day, I realize I love it even more. What is wrong with me? Flume has been flooding us with immense tunes off the deluxe edition of his debut album re-issue, but the young Sydney producer is busy on all fronts. He teamed up with another Australian producer by the name of Emoh Instead. They call themselves What So Not, and this is their new track Touched, which certainly has all the markings of Flume’s future trap touch but more abrasive and heavy. And boy, does it get me going. On top of that, I looked up Emoh Instead, who is a trap and dubstep producer. Call me a fan. Check out his recent track Why Can’t You (Say So) below. Throw some trap, some bass, and some trumpet into a blender. This is what you get. And boy, does it feel like it was made just for me. Trap. Bass. Trumpets. Trap. Bass. Trumpets. I have so much energy right now.

Jonquil live

May 18, 2012

Throwing up a Jonquil share again. This time it’s a great live performance of Real Cold for The Amazing Sessions on a beach boardwalk somewhere in the UK. The trumpets are wonderful on this acoustic performance.

rac:

Here’s a little gift for you all!

Depeche Mode – Enjoy The Silence (RAC Mix)

I noticed this morning that there’s a new RAC track floating around, and only got around to it just now. Help! The horns at the beginning! I can’t help loving this! So good!!! I must admit, my first thought was, “meh, another Depeche Mode remix” when I saw their announcement, but THANK YOU RAC, goooood stuff.
