Last year, Swedish experimental pop duo JJ released one of the year’s more artsy and intriguing albums, V, which I greatly enjoyed. Fast forward to this year and the duo are already unleashing some fantastic tracks, including this one, Truce. Truce is a haunting, gritty song that ventures deeply into hip hop territory, like a Drake, Kanye, and Kid Cudi fusion, but with a jagged, bewitching edge that takes it into ethereal, ghostly territory. Truce is a captivating song both coarse and elegant, beautiful and raw.

Ohio alt rock duo Twenty One Pilots had a helluva 2013. To close out the year, they released a video today for Truce, off of their album Vessel. They call it an “ode to 2013”, and the ballad is certainly a good one for some reflection on the past year. It’s a lovely, sigh inducing, soft tune from the extremely versatile act known for genre bending and for throwing incredibly good live shows.
