Australian synth poppers Atlas Genius are set to release their excellent debut album When It Was Now this week, and they’ve put the whole thing up on youtube for us to stream early! For those that don’t recognize the band name, there’s no doubt you’ve heard their mega infectious single Trojans. I pre-ordered the album some time ago and look forward to receiving my copy!

New Atlas Genius

February 6, 2013

The Aussie indie rock band that brought you all too infectious anthem Trojans released a new track off their coming album When It Was Now. Here’s the official audio for If So. The sound on If So is reminiscent of Trojans. It’s also very catchy, and a little less frenetic and upbeat. It easily sounds like another indie hit. Debut album When It Was Now comes out on February 19. I’m looking forward to it and already pre-ordered.

And, for revisit purposes, it NEVER, EVER hurts to get synth poppy Trojans stuck in your head again.

Acoustic Trojans

November 30, 2012

Ack! As if the song couldn’t get any better… here I am, LOVING the acoustic version. No big surprise there, I tend to love acoustic, stripped down renditions of songs. Now THIS is going to get stuck in my head all week again. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Atlas Genius for the win! I think I’ve spewed about the merits and wonderfulness of this song and Australian band enough times already. So, just enjoy the music, will ya?

I featured Australian indie rock band Atlas Genius some months ago. Their songs are catchy and they’re sure to be an up and coming band with their great tunes. Their mega super infectious song Trojans is as much indie pop as it is indie rock, sure to make your feet want to move. I love it. Here’s their brand new video for the track as debuted on MTV.com! Tell me this ain’t a good song!

Hailing from Australia, Atlas Genius is relatively new on the scene. ย The indie alt rock band doesn’t have a debut album out yet, but they do have a new EP titled Through The Glass. Today, a video for Symptoms off that EP was released. The song is borderline synthy and the vocals on it actually remind me somewhat of Miike Snow. Even the melody does so a bit, just in a far less electric way. They also say that Death Cab, Beck, and The Police are huge influences on them. I’d definitely keep an eye out for these guys. For those in San Fran, they’re opening for Animal Kingdom tomorrow at Popscene at the Rickshaw Stop. I’ll be missing the show, but go enjoy it for me. You won’t be disappointed with the lineup. Animal Kingdom are bomb too, I just saw them at Outside Lands.

ADDENDUM: I realize I may not have featured Atlas Genius on an earlier post, so I should definitely share a couple other songs of theirs, including the wonderful Trojans from earlier this year. If you haven’t heard much about these Aussies elsewhere, you will sometime soon.
