Lord Huron dropped a mysterious trailer for their sophomore album Strange Trails the other day, and it had me all hyped up and excited for the coming release. The Los Angeles based indie folk band has since unveiled a new song on My Old Kentucky Blog. The Night We Met is an exceptionally beautiful and melancholic song. It might be the most hauntingly twangy and movingly sentimental song I’ve listened to all week. Watch the teaser for Strange Trails below.

I was mighty happy this morning when I woke up to hear that Swedish folk sisters First Aid Kit had announced a new album. Stay Gold, their third full length, releases on June 10 on Columbia. The duo shared a trailer for the new album, soundtracked by a snippet of what is likely a tune off the release. Check out the trailer below. I was quite enamored by the clip in the trailer, which sounded almost Lykke Li like with its haunting, sweeping alt pop tendencies. I couldn’t help wondering if it signified a switch in direction for the sisters away from folk and towards pop, but then I subsequently heard the first taste off Stay Gold, the deliciously folksy My Silver Lining. It’s a great wild west evoking jangler. Still, I find myself incredibly curious about that clip from the trailer and wondering what the rest of the album will sound like. Regardless, I’ll be pre-ordering and looking forward to Stay Gold. I still recall catching them on tour for previous album The Lion’s Roar and how amazing the sister duo’s harmonies are live. Watching Lucius live a few months ago really reminded me of First Aid Kit in that regard.

ALBUM TRAILER: Lykke Li – I Never Learn

February 27, 2014

I’m very busy this morning, as usual lately, but everything is put on HOLD for a few minutes. Why? Simple. We have a taste of new LYKKE LI! That’s right, the beloved Swedish singer songwriter dropped this teaser for her upcoming new album I Never Learn, and it’s soundtracked by a gorgeous, sweeping, cinematic sampling of a new tune. No deets on whether it’s the title track off the new album or anything, as this is red hot fresh off the press (or rather, her Facebook profile), but who cares? It’s as enchanting as we can ever expect from the songstress. I Never Learn will apparently be out on May 5. I can’t wait!

Empire of the Sun tease

March 11, 2013

In other huuuuge news that was just announced a little over half an hour ago, Empire of the Sun are releasing a sophomore album in June titled Ice On the Dune! And here’s a little unsatisfying teaser titled Discovery! They’re back! Omgomgomg. Yay. It’s been five long years since their debut album Walking On A Dream made waves in the indie scene. Those few seconds of music at the end of the teaser are not enough. I guess that’s why they call it a teaser. =(

Preview/teaser for Imagine Dragons’ long awaited debut!

August 28, 2012

Imagine Dragons finally drops their debut album Night Visions on September 4. It’s been a super duper painful long wait after years of hard work from the Vegas indie alt rock group, but this preview of the album (which includes some tunes that have been around for awhile) shows that the wait was worth it. It seems they’ve really found their little groove and it’s appealed so well to the masses that their following has grown by so many fold! I’m very happy for them. I really enjoyed this little tease despite these clips being so short. I was also very pleasantly surprised to see them nominated for an MTV VMA. Yep, they’re about to blow up wayyyyyy more!
