I tried very hard to find an official soundcloud stream of The Very Best’s Hear Me last week, and there wasn’t one. I was too excited to share the tune and went ahead with the music video then. Well, guess what? It’s on soundcloud now, so if you missed it then, you’d better not miss it this time around. The London based duo, formed by producer Radioclit and Malawai singer Esau Mwamwaya, has always lured me in with their ecclectic mix of African influenced music and indie/alt. New single Hear Me is such an enchanting, fluid, and beautiful track, full of enchanting melody and uplifting vocals. The song also features Chris Baio of Vampire Weekend on bass. The Very Best are working on a new album for next Spring. I’ll tack on the video below again, too.

I’ve always been quite fond of The Very Best, a duo based out of London formed by producer Radioclit and Malawi singer Esau Mwamwaya. In fact, I’m rather fond of African influenced music in general. There’s something so beautiful and enchanting about the melodies, the instruments, and the rhythms. The Very Best dropped a new video and song today, named Hear Me, and it’s one of the most exquisite things I’ve heard all day. Hear Me features Chris Baio of Vampire Weekend on bass. And it’s all very magical, launching me far, far away from this little office room and this decrepit desk. The Very Best will have a new album out next spring, recorded in Malawi.

Dan Croll’s new tune Nobody Knows, which feature The Very Best, is seriously one of my favorite new tunes to come out of last week’s endless stream of new music. I already featured the music video for the upbeat tune off Dan’s deluxe edition of debut album Sweet Disarray, and I’ve been on the lookout for a Soundcloud stream, to no avail. This new remix of the awesome song by always on point French producer Monsieur Adi did surface today, and it’s my absolute pleasure to get to share the high energy, bright, uplifting rendition with you.

I really wanted to share this new Dan Croll tune with y’all, and it took some work to find this version on Yahoo to share since the Youtube video is unavailable in my good ol’ country of USA. The versatile British musician decided to go the buoyant, super upbeat pop way on this excellent new track Nobody Knows, which features London based Afro-dance-fusion duo The Very Best. And boy, do I dig the uplifting sound they’ve made together. The track is an addition on the deluxe version of Dan’s debut album Sweet Disarray out July 14 on Decca. I’m keeping my eye out for the SoundCloud stream for this brilliant song!

OFFICIAL VID: The Very Best – Yoshua Alikuti

April 27, 2012

I thoroughly enjoyed this. I expected not to enjoy it too much, since the video is supposed to be a play on the video for Lil Wayne’s A Milli. I wasn’t sure what that meant, so I figured the song might be something similar too. Instead, The Very Best’s Yoshua Alikuti is a wonderful world music track filled with African flavor and with amazing footage of Nairobi. I’m totally digging it and loving the chance to see the local footage. I still have Africa on the top of my must visit travel locations. Someday, someday.
