Whoa, this is sick (no pun intended)! Scottish indie rock band The Twilight Sad’s song Sick  is already a great tune, but check out the end result when spacey producer Com Truise puts his touch on it! This may easily be a one of the best remixes of the week (I know it’s early to say that, too)! The synth heavy glitchy remix is some freaking good futuristic electro house. There’s also something very 80’s new wave about it. Omg. Seriously. Badass. The track will be on The Twilight Sad’s upcoming album No One Can Ever Know: The Remixes out on November 5.

Scottish post-punk band The Twilight Sad are releasing a remix album. The album will feature a bunch of other awesome artists remixing tracks off No One Can Ever Know. It’s worth looking forward to, and I’m sure I’ll be sharing more items off the remix album. Remixers include the likes of Com Truise, The Horrors, and others. The first remix for us to indulge in is this really sick Liars remix of Nil. There’s almost a Bloc Party like quality to the reworking thanks to the choppy vocals and arrangement of instruments. It’s very dark and omnipotent. Listen through to the end. Trust me. Wicked… Seriously…

La Blogotheque catchup

February 16, 2012

I’ve been behind on checking out some of my favorite music session channels on youtube. So, naturally, I’m behind on some A Take Away Show sessions from La Blogotheque. I’ll do a quick catchup on a few of these right now. As always, the A Take Away Show series performances are breathtakingly beautiful. Love them. I’ll quickly jot these down.

First, The Twilight Sad. Ahhh… that accent and that music…. I would swoon if I were there. I would. For sure. They performed there gorgeous songs Sick and Alphabet on a sidewalk:

Next, Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit gave a raw performance of their songs In The Morning and Sailor:

Lastly, I’m not always a big fan of Cee Lo Green, but I must concede the man has some major talent and genius (not always used to full potential). Danger Mouse knew what he was doing when he collaborated with Cee Lo as Gnarls Barkley. Here’s Cee Lo’s A Take Away Show where he performed acoustic renditions of F*ck You and Wild Flower:

OFFICIAL VID: The Twilight Sad – Another Bed

January 25, 2012

Geez, like I said this morning, today is full of video goodies. Here’s the brand new video for Scottish band The Twilight Sad’s single Another Bed. There’s something creepy crawly in the great post-punk track. And once again, The Twilight Sad reminds me some of Interpol, She Wants Revenge, Editors and some other indie bands mixed and mashed with some 80’s New Wave (New Order, Depeche Mode, and The Cure, anyone?). But with a heckuva Scottish accent. This a great song. It’ll get stuck in your head, easy peasy. Their new album No One Can Ever Know drops on February 7th.

New The Twilight Sad

January 4, 2012

Here’s a brand new song from The Twilight Sad, which will be on their new album No One Can Ever Know. The indie shoegaze Scots will release the third studio album in early February. Another Bed is heavy on the synthlines and reminds me a bit of Interpol and She Wants Revenge at certain moments. It’s definitely a grower.

The Twilight Sad

the twilight sad

Here’s Sick from The Twilight Sad, and it’s a lovely track off the indie rock band’s forthcoming third album No One Can Ever Know. The band’s Scottish background is obvious with the wonderful accent in the vocals.
