The Raveonettes has been offering up an array of splendid tunes from their Rave-Sound-Of-The-Month series, one which will culminate in a brand new full length. These songs have been revealed via artistic lyric videos, and while many of them have been particularly droopy and murky, dark and shadowy, it’s a rather different sort of song they offer up for the latest edition of their series. Though this new one is grimly entitled Choke On Love, there’s a far more breezy atmosphere to this lithe billowing tune. The Danish duo offer up surprising Vampire Weekend like sunny surf languor, but within it all lies a generous modicum of gauzy ghostly haze. Choke On Love is a welcome addition to their forthcoming 2017 full length, an obviously vastly arrayed arrangement of spellbinding treats. Where Are You Wild Horses is the seventh track from The Raveonettes’ Rave-Sound-Of-The-Month series, which they’ve been revealing in a string of darkly fashioned lyric videos. Where Are You Wild Horses is a gentle drifter. In fact, it sees the Danish band going rather pastoral on us. They explain about the folkgazey tune: “This song is about knowing when to leave, knowing when something is not working ‘cause if you stay, it’s gonna get painful. Sometimes it’s very difficult to say goodbye, so you pray for someone to drag you away, in this case wild horses”. The Raveonettes’ song a month series will culminate in a new album. You can pledge for the CD and vinyl of the forthcoming record via their Pledge Music Campaign, something I’ve eagerly done many moons ago.

The Raveonettes are in a midst of a year long RAVE-SOUND-OF-THE-MONTH unconventional album series, and I simply cannot get enough of their new music! Though I’ve been a long time fan of the indie rock and shoegaze mainstays, it’s possible I’ve never been more enraptured by the Danish duo. Despite my obsessing over last month’s Run Mascara Run, I now have to share my heart with new track Excuses, too. The Raveonettes once again go a very noire and wickedly heady route on the song, revealed via a riveting lyric video. Head over to their YouTube channel to listen to the other tracks revealed in the series so far.

I’m so in love with the new The Raveonettes that I’ve already listened to Run Mascara Run countless times since it surfaced on Friday, eagerly and giddily streaming its lyric video over and over again. It’s dark gooeyness and whispery goodness are irresistible and a much fresh sound from the Danish shoegazers. Run Mascara Run crackles and crinkles, a ghostly twist on the 50′s. Run Mascara Run is The Raveonettes second track in a 12 monthly “Rave-Sound-Of-The-Month” series, and I’m feeling mighty fortunate we’ll be hearing new The Raveonettes every month for a full year.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Danish shoegazey garage rockers The Raveonettes’ latest album, Pe’ahi, ever since it’s surprise release over a month ago. In fact, I was blasting it outside of Bottom of the Hill the night I practically hung out with Win Butler while he DJ’ed as Windows 98, but I digress. Pe’ahi is chock full of delicious goodies, and one of my favorites is Killer In The Streets, a simmering, noisy, jangly treat. This week, The Raveonettes released a video for the song.

OFFICIAL VID: The Raveonettes – Endless Sleeper

July 30, 2014

Shoegazey Danish rockers The Raveonettes dropped their surprise album Pe’ahi last week, and the songs we heard off the album throughout the past days prompted me to immediately purchase the album. Sure enough, the album arrived on my doorstep, and when I popped it in for a listen last night, I was quite intoxicated and delighted. I blasted it on my way to shows, in between shows, before I met Win Butler, after… oh, I digress, that’s a story for another time. But yes, I blasted The Raveonettes when driving between adventures last night, to much satisfaction and beyond. Their noisy songs are utterly mesmerizing with gorgeous melodies and dreamy haziness. Soaring, buzzing opening track Endless Sleeper now has a video to along with it, which you can find below.
