Man, I’ve seen Foster The People at my first Coachella, Big Gigantic last year, but I need me some The Knocks at Coachella soon. Anyways, New York’s finest production duo released a remix package of their of fire track Ride or Die and Big Gigantic didn’t fail in bringing the heat. I can’t even finish writing about this inferno since the heat has my fingertips rising off the keyboard in an attempt to fan the flames.

SOFI TUKKER’s wildly infectious Best Friend, the Grammy nominated duo’s collaboration with The Knocks, NERVO, and Alisa Ueno, is easily one of the year’s best dance tracks. It’s certainly one of our top favorites, and we’re still glowing with joy from the fact that it’s been featured so prominently by Apple in their big iPhone X commercial. The NYC based alt dance duo shared an immense remix pack for Best Friend last Friday, off which comes this frisky fun, beat clobbering edit by Sophie and Tucker themselves. The energetic pumping new “Carnaval Remix” is well worth of some prismatic plumed Brazilian Carnival shenanigans. This rump shaking rendition is a Brazilian house bonanza, and it’s available from iTunes alongside three other edits on the new remix pack, here.

How this beast of a collaboration managed to slip by me for much of the month befuddles me, and I thank my lucky stars I was fortunate enough to encounter House Party this week, albeit delayed. After all, it comes from two magnificent acts that we love, including NYC’s The Knocks and seasoned Los Angeles production trio Captain Cuts. They serve up zestful disco funk on the appropriately titled house banger, a naughty but nice, slick and glam bonanza. I used to throw massive house parties back in the day before I had to stop because they were getting way too big. If only I had House Party to request from my DJ friends, it would have been pure perfection. Download this debonair zinger, here.

It’s a jumbo sized collaboration as SOFI TUKKER drops a bombshell of a groover named Best Friend, on which the Grammy nominated duo are joined by Los Angeles electronic bigwigs NERVO, New York dance darlings The Knocks, and Tokyo DJ/culture influencer Alisa Ueno. Best Friend is the sort of fiery scorching, racy pumping SOFI TUKKER banger with a deep groove and plenty of island flair. It’s so hot, it’s even been tapped for that new iPhone X commercial. SOFI TUKKER’s new song is, as its name implies, an appreciative celebration of friendship. You can catch the New York house/dance duo live when they perform at Life Is Beautiful in Vegas later this month or when they tour with Odesza this fall. I’m excited to see them yet again when Odesza makes their three night stop at the Greek in Berkeley. You can also stream and download Best Friend, here.

I know this one’s been making the rounds for a large part of the month already, garnering support all across the board, but we’re still super excited to drop on some Amelia Airhorn, in case you haven’t caught wind of this buzzing new project from New York just yet. So, who exactly is Amelia Airhorn? A new production auteur? A surprise starlet here to shake things up? Not quite. Amelia Airhorn is in fact a mega collaboration between The Knocks and Skylar Spence, and they’ve already released a buzz worthy mixtape, or album, named ‘The Knocks & Skylar Spence Present… Amelia Airhorn’. The trio of talented musicians take us right to the heart of New York on a hot steamy night with this disco spectacular, which you can stream in full, here. NY is Red Hot is one of the highlights of the album, a 70′s roller rink ready, neon twirling, churning bop of a classic banger. You can download Amelia Airhorn’s album in full, here, and trust me, you’re going to want to take this one for many a spin this summer.

London’s Mr Sanka has without a doubt been one of the more fascinating projects to emerge this year. The enigmatic outfit dropped their debut EP Gallon earlier this year, whose title track is an entrancing left field pop meets electronica offering. A remix EP followed on the heels of that release. It’s filled with finely crafted edits of Gallon by the likes of Assassin, Alex Adair, Cassian, Suede Brown, and The Knocks. The latter of the five is a hypnotic interpretation swimming in house opulence and brimming with dark tech vibes. It’s kind of like Mr Sanka gone Years & Years, but inkier and edgier. The Knocks’ remix is yet another display of the NYC duo’s versatility. You can find the full Gallon remix package on iTunes, here.

Earlier this month, The Knocks dropped a remix pack for their sizzling hot single HEAT, featuring Sam Nelson Harris, which is honestly just what we need on this cool San Francisco morning (we don’t get much of a warm spring and even less of a hot summer most years). Among its fine ranks is this balmy crisp remix by British duo Toyboy & Robin. Future meets retro on the cool gliding, ocean glimmering edit, which could have easily come from a modernized Miami Vice soundtrack, if they were to do another revival of that series. Close your eyes, pump up the volume, and you’ll find yourself magically cruising a sunset shoreline in a classic red Testarossa.  You can stream The Knocks’ Heat Remixes in full on Soundcloud, here. It features additional edits by MishCat Skolhaus, Wet, Manila Killa, and Dep & Rash.

Every time I listen to The Knocks’ Trouble, my heart finds itself aglow with pure joy. The groovy sleek disco funk jam, which features IHM revered musician Absofacto, is one of my favorite tracks off the Brooklyn duo’s excellent Testify EP. Despite its ebullience, Trouble is a double edged composition. There’s plenty of nostalgia and melancholy hidden underneath its golden locks and dreamy chops. Los Angeles based producer LIONE amplifies the brighter side of the song on a gorgeously soaring remix of Trouble. The track has been deservedly drumming up a ton of acclaim and buzz. If you need an uplifting dose of cosmic future bass, take flight with LIONE’s breathtaking edit.

Ever popular NYC duo The Knocks has been quickly unleashing treat after treat onto our eager ears lately, culminating in last Friday’s release of eagerly anticipated new EP TESTIFY. The guest talent studded six track EP arrives just as The Knocks kick off their Feel Good Feel Great Tour which brings them to San Francisco on February 9th, when they pay the legendary Fillmore. If you haven’t heard EP cut Worship yet, be prepared for some buttery, creamy bliss and dive in above. After all, Worship features none other than Britain’s MNEK, whose soulful vocals are a heavenly auxiliary to The Knocks’ sprightly jubilant dance production. TESTIFY is out now on iTunes.
