In case you missed the news, one of our long time Australian favorites, The Kite String Tangle, dropped a brand new mini-album named In A Desperate Moment earlier this month. And by “mini”, I mean… not so mini. In A Desperate Moment is an 11 track escapade brimming with heartfelt feels and a sweet abundance of The Kite String Tangle’s atmospheric ballads, etched dexterously out of chiffon vocals, intricate instrumentals, and ethereal electronica. The producer/singer’s new oeuvre of songs features this moving beauty, All About Her, a wistful longing gem that showcases a bevy of lush instruments ranging from horns to keys to strings. You can stream In A Desperate Moment in full on Soundcloud, here.

Though it’s been a long time since Fatboy Slim gave us new music, the legendary artist has revealed some fabulous new remixes of his songs on a remix EP entitled Fatboy Slim vs Australia. As the title might suggest, all the producers and projects involved are from Australia. We can’t get enough of The Kite String Tangle’s take on Fatboy Slim classic Praise You. He brings his own electronic prowess to the table on the mix, creating a slick and punchy electronic soundscape propelled by the original’s anthemic hook and big beats. For another taste off the six track EP, stream Lo’99′s bass churning, seedy “strutting” remix of Fatboy Slim’s Star 69 below, too, and prepare for some glorious warehouse vibes. Fatboy Slim vs Australia, which also features remixes by The Aston Shuffle, Sam La More, Set Mo, and Carmada, is available, here.

An utterly engrossing official live music video for The Kite String Tangle’s recent single This Thing We Got offers up the perfect chance to partake in the song’s lush pumping, brassy smooth intoxication. This Thing We Got comes off of Danny Harley’s recently released self-titled debut album. The Australian ARIA award nominee offers up cruising California vibes and sun kissed electro-funk feels on the song, which he said was motivated by the butterflies-in-your-stomach honeymoon period when you’re dating someone new. This Thing We Got is available from iTunes, here.

Tangled up I always am by the music of solo electronic project The Kite String Tangle, who makes a long awaited return with emotionally charged atmospheric opus Selfish. The dense electronic beats found on Danny Harley new song tear at our hearts while Selfish’s future flickering vistas evoke fellow Australian talent Flume and his earlier, less gritty offerings. Along with the silky sweeping new tune comes news that the ARIA nominated artist has launched a new independent record label named Exist. Recordings in collaboration with industry heavyweights UNIFIED. The label’s first signings are ones much beloved by IHM too, namely Golden Vessel and LASTLINGS. We’re eager to hear what they all have to offer next on The Kite String Tangle’s label. Selfish is out now on iTunes.

There never any doubt in my mind this would be a treat when I found out that Scholar had remixed The Kite String Tangle. In fact, I heard about it last night from a music buddy, and was looking forward to getting a listen since. Lo and behold, the Australian acts released the remix today. Scholar’s rendition of TKST’s Arcadia is exactly the bewitching, effervescent treat that I expected it to be. It’s near impossible for me not to love the texture on the shimmering, futuristic edit.

I knew this would be sublime the moment I saw Australian production duo Hermitude’s name. Plus, it’s a remix of a song from another Australian act I’ve been fond of for quite some time now, The Kite String Tangle, who certainly need more ears on them here on this side of the world. Hermitude remixes TKST’s latest tune, Stone Cold, which features Tiana Khasi. Their version of the song is a finely balanced futuristic edit, leaving a lot of the original’s vocals and allure intact, but creating a smooth but dramatic soundscape out of it. It’s a textured, minimalist Ta-ku meets shimmering, pulsing Flume approach. Hermitude’s remix is part of a 5 track digital remix package that also features remixes by the likes of Kilter and Shy Girls, out December 19th.

Just yesterday, I shared The Kite String Tangle’s latest single, Stone Cold, which features vocals by Australian songstress Tiana Khasi. While I was doing so, I was already looking forward to sharing this remix of it the next day. I bring you the dope AMTRAC remix! The Kentucky producer molds it into a raw and satisfying deep house jam. The original is off TKST’s debut EP Vessel.

I’m not too sure how I missed this important announcement late last month, but Stone Cold, featuring Tiana Khasi, is The Kite String Tangle’s latest single off their debut EP Vessel. It’s another spectacular specimen of atmospheric electronic music from the Australian act who first caught me in their webs with Given The Chance. Soulful vocals and a weightless, tropical airiness punctuate the beautiful ballad. Stay tuned for a superb remix by AMTRAC soon.

Denver producer Illenium, aka Nicholas Miller, just placed himself squarely on my radar as a huge blip with his sparkling, breathtaking remix of British duo Wonder Wonder’s (now Oh Wonder’s)intimate gem Shark. His melodic dubstep remix retains the coziness and tender charm of the song, but it flies and glides with such cathartic electronic atmosphere and weightlessness. Upon further investigation, the San Francisco native (woo hoo!) also dropped an amazing chill trap vibing remix of The Kite String Tangle’s Given The Chance recently, which you can find below. On top of that, he released a sick original named Chosen You earlier this month, a future bass and trap listen that’s far more dark and blistering and blustery. Like I told myself earlier today, this guy’s good.
