It’s more than safe to say that much of the tastemaker world is in agreement that Amber Bain and her esteemed project The Japanese House is one of the most exciting alt acts in the scene these days. It’s hard to believe that two years have swiftly flown by since she first surfaced with Still. Amber is now preparing to release a new EP named Saw You In A Dream on June 27th via Dirty Hit / Interscope Records. New single 3/3 follows the EP’s title track and Somebody You Found, both of which we zealously shared in the past. 3/3 once again stirs and moves with its diaphanous layers of slick alt electronica and dreamy verdant pop, topped off by her exquisite harmonies. I’ll be looking forward to seeing The Japanese House again in August at Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco. You can also catch her at Latitude, Parklife, Reading & Leeds, Lollapalooza, and more. Find out more and purchase tickets, here. 3/3 is available, here.

I’m more than glad that I didn’t see The Japanese House in a dream, but I really did catch the incredibly talented singer songwriter and producer Amber Bain at a swiftly sold out Popscene in San Francisco back in December of last year. She was stunning, and I really must make my way out to see the BBC Sound Of nominee once again. In fact, I fully plan on doing so when she returns to San Francisco for Outside Lands Music Festival this August. Amber Bain, who’s currently on a headline European/UK tour, takes us to cloud nine with her new single, Saw You In A Dream, out now via Dirty Hit / Interscope. Saw You In A Dream is more of The Japanese House’s refined and sophisticated pop. It’s a finely layered, sleekly wafting alt/electro puff of soft, woolly cotton, into which we blissfully sink. The single is available from iTunes, here.

December 3rd can’t come any sooner. My heart races in excitement at the thought of finally experiencing The Japanese House live when she headlines Popscene in San Francisco that evening. The gifted 21 year old singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist’s harmonious amalgamation of indietronica and alt pop has always brought me to nirvana with soothing warbling and cool feathery, intricate layered production. The Japanese House again transports me to a beautiful oasis dripping in emotion with new song Face Like Thunder, a track off of her forthcoming EP, Swim Against The Tide, out November 11th via Dirty Hit Records. Amber Bain’s compositions have always reminded me of The 1975 gone Imogen Heap. Melancholic and contemplative Face Like Thunder is no different. It flutters gently and tenderly nuzzles the heart. Purchase Face Like Thunder or pre-order The Japanese House’s Swim Against The Tide EP from iTunes.

The Japanese House revealed another song from her Clean EP today, which will be out on Friday, November 6th via Dirty Hit. There wasn’t a doubt in my mind that the new one would be another requisite share, as the 19 year old artist has melted us endlessly with her prior tracks thus far. Sugar Pill is as exquisitely soothing and meticulously layered as any of The Japanese House’s previous songs, but it swells with an extra iota of cinematic synth grandeur within its spongy bed of delicate chimes and lightly nimble beats. Watch Sugar Pill’s accompanying kaleidoscopic palette of colorful visuals in the video below. You can pre-order the Clean EP on iTunes.

In the last eight months, The Japanese House has melted us and soothed us with countless exquisite songs. My faith in her is so strong that I only expected the same when I encountered new song Letter By The Water. Sure enough, the new single is a nimbly swelling and gently ebbing work of sensationally stirring beauty, with tense moments of ravishing grandeur and tender junctures of fragile vulnerability. As before, the dynamic but feathery tune reminds me blissfully of Imogen Heap, or her work when she was part of duo Frou Frou. Breathtaking, skin tingling Letter By The Water comes from the 19 year old act’s upcoming Clean EP, out November 6th. Clean is available to pre-order on iTunes, or on 12″ vinyl via Dirty Hit’s webstore.
