I really need to spend more time visiting Canada. Though I’ve been to Alberta and British Columbia, I’ve yet to trek my way over towards Toronto or Montreal, where many of my favorite bands and musicians reside. The Franklin Electric is an alt folk band from the latter of those two cities, and though they’ve been around for awhile now and have a fresh album out and about, I’ve somehow managed to miss out on them, until now. The Franklin Electric immediately captured my heart with the latest single from their album Blue Ceilings. Save Yourself is a folk pop ballad whose fervent vocals and lush crescendos evoke Tom Odell and Rhodes but more seated in a more rustic and cinematic setting that recalls Reuben and the Dark. The Franklin Electric’s new album Blue Ceilings is out now on iTunes.
