ALBUM STREAM: Bowerbirds – The Clearing

February 29, 2012

Here’s some folksy music for you to wax nostalgic. It’s perfect for a quiet evening and some introspective thoughts. Stream Bowerbirds’ The Clearing below in full. This is their third album, and it’s the one I mentioned previously as recorded partly in Bon Iver’s studio. The three piece hails from North Carolina. The Clearing drops on March 5th on independent record label Dead Oceans.

Bowerbirds’ In The Yard is a beautiful folk track. The band hails from North Carolina, and the track will be on their new album The Clearing dropping in March. The song is quite lush once the multiple layers of vocals and instruments kick in, and I have such a soft spot for simple yet complexly arranged folk tunes. There’s an interesting electric tone that kicks in after a short while too, so it’s a surprise of a song. Part of the upcoming album was recorded in Wisconsin, utilizing Bon Iver’s studio. The rest was recorded in a cabin. Perhaps they wanted to catch the feel of Bon Iver’s first album in the cabin, and some of the feel of the second album in the studio?
