It’s been a year since The Bad Years’ debut EP, Outsider Pop, and the Los Angeles based indie rockers make a long awaited auspicious return with their first new tune of 2016, In The House (High All Day). The glossy swirling number mixes 90′s shoegaze and 60′s pop with contemporary production. From this synthy pop and thrumming rock concoction ensues a dreamy mellifluous, infectious twirling charmer that evokes a combination of Metric and The Cardigans. Don’t be surprised if all you want to do is “get high all day” on the sweet intoxicating sonic nectar of this song.

I’m on a roll here with the Southern California bands. Another brand new act to come out of Los Angeles is The Bad Years, an indie rock band with a sound that greatly reminds me of The Cardigans and The Kills. They’ve released a double-A side as their debut, and off of it comes Common Mistake, a pensive, haunting, yet vibrant gem, carrying a touch of jangly and twangy flavor. Common Mistake drops on iTunes November 4th.
