Vancouver production enigma 3XIT takes us on a profound journey this afternoon with Switch. We visit our innermost thoughts and contemplate the meaning of life, before we dance and celebrate living at all. The producer transports us to a basement rave before taking us to an enlightening dance ritual on a high peak. Techno, trance, ambient house, and progressive house intertwine on the track. 3XIT’s pristine brushstrokes utilize bass, beats, snares, and synths. With them he’s painted an inspirational and lifting masterpiece, one that enshrouds us in optimism and hope.

Get ready for some bubbly effervescence and spritely beats on this fresh remix of Toronto based producer Pusher’s Switch, by Chicago and Boston based production act Restless Modern. Like Wave Racer and Lido’s brand of future bass and chill trap? You’re going to fall head over heels for this one, then.

For a highly intoxicating future bass gem, turn your attention to Toronto’s PUSHER, who slays it on his pixelated chiptune infused electronic track Switch. The song, which premiered on EDM.com recently, is a thriller of a bubbly trap frother. Download the eye opening rush of adrenaline for free here. I highly recommend it if you’re fond of acts like Flume, Cashmere Cat, and Rustie, as I am.

THE-DRUM – Switch

June 20, 2013

THE-DRUM is an ambient electronic production duo from Chicago who likely won’t stay under the buzz radar for too much longer. Ya gotta take a gander at their new single Switch. The production is at times warm and shimmery, yet at other times cold, droning, and futuristic, but always extremely textured and atmospheric. Switch is off their debut album Contact which will be available on June 25 off Audraglint.

For a little more electric goodness from THE-DRUMS, here’s an older song /SYS.

Alright, let’s get back to the bangers and the moombahton ragers. Major Lazer shared this mix today, a mashup of his remix of No Doubt’s Settle Down and Mr. Vegas’ Bruk It Down. It’s about as moombahton and ska as it can get, all at the same time!

OFFICIAL VID: Major Lazer – Get Free feat. Amber Coffman

August 23, 2012

Another day, another Major Lazer video, but this time it’s one I’ve been eagerrrrrrrrrly waiting for. I really liked the animated lyric video for this track, but any new video to accompany the song is greatly welcome. Get Free is actually my favorite Major Lazer track of the year so far. Featuring Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors on vocals, the song is a chill, infectious track with awesome production and beats. What else would you expect from one of the most popular producers of the moment? He’s probably one of the most coveted for collaborations, as the list of artists working with him just keeps getting longer and longer and longer. Diplo’s quickly becoming ubiquitous. Or, actually, he already has become so.

In a related unrelated note, I have a dilemma coming up in crazy October (crazy because of the insane amount of shows + Treasure Island Music Festival). On the same night, Bombay Bicycle Club will be playing the Fillmore while Major Lazer will be playing the Fox. I am torn. Any suggestions or advice? 😉

OFFICIAL VID: Diplo – Set It Off feat. Lazerdisk Party Sex

August 21, 2012

Premiered on MTV, here’s Major Lazer’s video for Set It Off which features Lazerdisk Party Sex. Hmm. Say that out loud and something doesn’t sound right. The video DOES feature some skilled pole dancing and ass popping in what could be outer space or somewhere where gravity goes wacky on the girls.  Wait, are there airplanes in space? Ahh, Major Lazer, of course you would throw us an absurd video filled with rear ends and almost bare bodies. OF COURSE. The repetitive, hypnotizing track is off of Diplo’s EP Express Yourself.
