Alex Vargas is a singer songwriter who was born and raised in Copenhagen before he migrated to London where he already has a large, devoted fan base. It’s no surprise, considering his honeyed vocals and beautiful songs. Solid Ground is his new single and the title track off a forthcoming EP, out October 21. It’s a gorgeous, mellifluous ballad suffused with some electropop flavor and a divine amount of melting sentiment. A year ago, he offered up an incredible cover of Calvin Harris and Florence Welch’s Sweet Nothing, crafting a more tender and moving rendition. Alex Vargas’ voice can really pack a punch. Check it out below.

OFFICIAL VID: Calvin Harris feat Florence Welch – Sweet Nothing

September 21, 2012

That house collaboration Sweet Nothing between hot producer Calvin Harris and Florence Welch has hit the music video circuit with this passionate video. For those living under a rock for the past couple years, they’ll finally know the full name of the singer from Florence and the Machine. The song has definitely grown on me since the first low quality early preview I heard some time ago. Calvin Harris is a great producer, and Florence Welch is one of the best female vocalists right now. Anything she touches is gold… or at least silver if not gold. Florence’s voice is a power house. This is a good pop rager to get out on the dance floor for, and it’s sure to be a big hit in America. It might not rage enough for the hardcore EDM loyalists, but I’m sure there will be some mad remixes by famous producers that will explode on the scene. Dubstep remix with some mad drops and heavy bass, anyone?

EDM and house music continues its rule over the world this week as Calvin Harris previewed another tune off his upcoming new album 18 Months on BBC Radio 1. This one is titled Sweet Nothing and features none other than the immensely talented Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine. There’s no doubt Flo’s voice fits electronica well (what doesn’t it fit?). It’s not a stupendous track, but it’s no doubt enjoyable, and this preview is low quality audio. I’m sure an HQ version will sound much less noisy and much more impressive.
