We caught on to Papa Ya earlier this year when the Los Angeles duo’s second song, a collaboration with Con Bro Chill named Outta Here, hooked us in with frisky summer ebullience. Though summer is now long gone, the indie dance outfit returns to inject us with an urge to get out and get down next to an azure pool. Sunny is a popping party jam with snazzy bass and feisty synths. The spongy spry track makes me wish we could skip forward to the weekend, right now. Sunny is a free download, here.

I have no idea if British newcomer Hight chose his moniker as a play on the word “height”, but he sure takes us to epic heights with his debut. Sun Come Up is a song as prismatic as the colorful artwork for the track. It’s also a unique treat that plays tricks on genre classifications. Though it bounces vivaciously with plenty of slick nu-disco and deep house aplomb, Hight also envelops us with dreamy luscious neon vibes accented by chillwave and electro house elements. It’s been awhile since I’ve watched the sun come up, but I suddenly have an urge in me to stay up all night and dance to Hight as the first brilliant rays of sunshine peak over the horizon. There’s something so hopeful and romantic about that moment, thoroughly encapsulated in Hight’s first single. Sun Come Up will be out this Friday, September 16th, on Dizzy New Hights.

Sweden’s NOËP arrives on my radar with a very unique and fresh blend of electropop, chill melodic house, and reggae on a song which he’s marked as a “demo”. Golden is his “ode to summer”, and it’s certainly a sun kissed delight with island breezy drums and endless laid back charm. The song’s fabulous baritone vocals immediately reminded me of France’s Woodkid, but happily languishing in a paradise world of swaying palm trees and sparkling waves. NOËP takes me on a euphoric escapade.

The Hip Abduction, have, to put it quite simply, abducted my hips for all eternity with their single Before We Lose Our Mind. My hips can’t stop swaying to the trop pop song’s radiant infectiousness and balmy snappiness, which remind me of Crystal Fighters with plenty of The Royal Concept like lustrous spring. For this reason, we must revisit the Florida based six piece’s song via its brand new music video. The sing along anthem is saturated with such heart warming sunshine. Before We Lost Our Mind comes from The Hip Abduction’s just released album, Gold Under The Glow. Head over to their website for purchase details.

I HEART MOOSIQ PREMIERE:

It’s like, 80 degrees out in SF, but I’m stuck in a windowless office room where it’s ALWAYS freezing. My space heater is roaring, and I have a puffy jacket on. But you know what? I feel like I could be out in the sun, with a huge smile on my face, spinning around with my arms outstretched in euphoria, thanks to this fresh remix of Austin alt band The Vantage’s Place In The Water by Mark Chill! The Los Angeles based producer transformed the stomping, energetic Young The Giant rock meets Walk The Moon pop anthem into a gleaming indie dance gem interwoven with hints of delicious disco and resplendent tropical. Mark Chill says that “the lyrics and story were a perfect fit for my chill/summer style of production”, and he does an excellent job fusing his sublimely sparkling and effervescent style to the indie rock vibes on the original. Snag it on May 5th when it’s out on iTunes, and add it to your sweet summer dance playlist!

I HEART MOOSIQ PREMIERE:

Euphoria is an apt song title considering how FMLYBND’s new song is about to make you feel. It’s also appropriate for how overjoyed I am to share their new track. You see, the band, from Santa Barbara, is one of my most favored emerging acts. This fond regard has only been heightened by the FMLYBND show I was lucky enough to catch a few weeks ago at Popscene in San Francisco. They brought the house down with their animated, vivacious set. The crowd surged, leapt, and bound to every beat of every song, fully inebriated on FMLYBND, even going as far as crowd surfing in a space which normally doesn’t see that sort of action.

After enrapturing us with several sensational releases this year, including a cover of the Pixies’ Where Is My Mind that rivals, if not tops, the best of the plentiful covers from across the decades, they continue on their song a month path and regal us once again, with magnificent Euphoria.

Euphoria is an enthralling alt and synthpop anthem full of vigor. Unlike what we’ve heard so far from FMLYBND this year, its ravishing lead vocals are delivered by the female member of the band, Mac Montgomery’s wife Braelyn (hence the name FMLYBND). She also showcases her masterful song writing talent on the track. Braelyn’s voice is an excellent fit for Euphoria’s soaring melody and near dizzying, twirling energy. Warm, swelling synths and a dance ready cadence conjure some Passion Pit innuendo, but Euphoria is also doused with a bittersweet, wistful dreaminess. It’s a song that makes me want to dance all night till the sun comes up, only to find myself heartsick to leave it all behind as sweet memories past.

FMLYBND will be touring with Milky Chance next month, a sensational billing that promises a spectacular evening. They also have a few more shows lined up before then. I highly recommend you keep an eye out for deets on www.fmlybnd.com or on www.facebook.com/fmlybnd.

The last time I featured German producer WKND, he gave us an amazing remix of Flume’s Hyper Paradise. Well, a skip and a hop later, he’s back, and with something equally brilliant. His latest remix is a twist on Two Door Cinema Club’s Sun. As before, he gives the song some hopped up, caffeinated punch and some heavenly tropical vibes.
