Who binged on Stranger Things 2 over the weekend? I’m guilty as charged, I really couldn’t help myself considering how entertaining the first season was. As usual, the much heralded arrival of the beloved new series came with a lot of synthwave inspired re-imaginings of the theme track by S U R V I V E. Louis Futon served up his take on the 80s inspired song yesterday, giving it an atmospheric and percussive trap rendering that is pure intoxicating bliss. We drift into oblivion and dream of Eleven destroying demagorgons and kids bicycling through the night to this dreamy flip, which incorporates some spectacular new guitar, too.

I don’t know about you, but I’m super crazy excited for season two of Stranger Things on Netflix, which is arriving in but a few days to coincide with Halloween. Australian sibling trio Niterunner pays tribute to their love for the show with a fabulous re-working of S U R V I V E’s synthwave theme. Strange Talk takes on a woozy dissonance and a chill disco twirl. It’s so dreamy intoxicating and foggy enthralling that it could’ve fit right in with the dream pop found on Twin Peak’s soundtrack. Strange Talk is like Men I Trust mixed with the Chromatics’ Italo disco and an ethereal drizzle of Yumi Zouma, all wrapped up in Stranger Thing’s 80s world. Download the track for free, here, while we ready ourselves for a Stranger Things 2 binge spree.

Some serendipitous YouTube adventuring lead me to this fabulous mashup earlier today, and flipboitamidles’ astute pairing of The Weeknd and Daft Punk’s Starboy with SURVIVE’s Stranger Things Theme (C418 Remix) is just too sumptuous a treat to keep all to myself. The mashup, entitled Stranger Boy, is a thrilling mixture of SURVIVE”s synthcore and The Weeknd’s velveteen R&B. You can snag this mysterious mashup artist’s tracks from his tumblr, here.

If you haven’t watched the new music video for Sigma’s latest single yet, there’s a wealth of reasons to do so immediately. First of all, the London production/DJ duo imbibed Find Me with a spectacular amount of sweeping power and stunning beauty. Secondly, Find Me features singer songwriter Birdy whose emotive stirring voice is like dazzling fireworks in this heart rending explosion of symphonic drum and bass. And last but certainly not least, the music video for Find Me stars Millie Bobby Brown, the 12 year old actress many know and love as Eleven from Stranger Things. So yes, feast your eyes and ears on the pure rhapsody that is Find Me.

Breaking protocol again by hopping on for another unplanned must share. As someone who’s a huge fan of both David Lynch’s bizarrely twisted Twin Peaks world and red hot Netflix series Stranger Things (in part due to their retro synthcore soundtracks), this surprise mashup of Twin Peaks’ Laura Palmer Theme with Stranger Things’ SURVIVE crafted theme is more than I could wish for. Wistful yet dark, tenderly melancholic yet eerily menacing… ahhh… My day is made. I’m listening to this all day long. Or, I would, if I could. Thank you, Seattle band Prom Queen, for creating Stranger Peaks.

When we look back on the summer of 2016, there’s two things we’ll remember ourselves collectively obsessing over, the first being Pokémon GO, and the second, a unifying Netflix series that paid tribute to the 1980′s named Stranger Things. You can count me in on both those fads, so I was thoroughly delighted when I encountered a track from The Factoury named Eleven which plays on Stranger Things’ beloved synthcore theme. For those who’ve never heard of The Factoury, it happens to be the solo alias of Jesse Rutherford, also the front man of The Neighbourhood. He’s obviously just as big a fan of Stranger Things as the rest of us are, as he offers up a scintillating hip hop re-work of Austin outfit SURVIVE’s theme and overlays some sonorous verses on top.
