Though Stop isn’t a brand new track from French legends Justice, anything fresh from the duo, including a music video, is cause for celebration.

Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay surprise us with a spiffy new animated video for the track off their excellent 2016 album Woman just as they’re preparing to perform at Google I/O tech festival tomorrow. The set will be livestreamed on YouTube. I’m some glitzy French house will spruce up your week and propel you over hump day. Justice is also playing a ton of festivals this summer in Europe. But they won’t be making it stateside till the fall, when they hit Life Is Beautiful and Austin City Limits. Watch Justice’s show at Google I/O conference tomorrow, here.

Matt Woods is arguably our favorite solo artist from the UK. Each and every one of his releases these past two years have blown us away, and his voice has always been utterly remarkable. The dashing singer songwriter leaves us trembling in the powerful wake of his deeply cutting new single Stop. It’s as if he ignites a fire within my heart with his exceptional falsettos and sensationally produced electro-soul, which he’s been dubbing future-soul long before the more dance relevant sub-genre of “future soul” was ever coined. The breathtaking and cathartic ballad evokes a blend of James Vincent McMorrow and Ben Howard, with widescreen electronic production replete with rich swelling synths and spine-tingling bass wobbles. Re-visit Matt Woods’ outstanding collection of tunes, here.

It’s a triumphant and soaring sort of rock that Safe To Swim dishes out on their song Stop, one that seems to meld a Weezer melodic punk with Pixies grit, all brightly studded with surprise bursts of grandiose electronic flourishes. The exhilarating tune comes from the Brighton based band’s debut EP, 20 Years, out earlier this year. Stop is a fuzzy thriller and a scuzzy charmer.  Stream the 20 Years EP in full on Soundcloud and purchase from iTunes.

Manchester’s Girl Friend delightfully evoke more Wild Beasts and Everything Everything on sultry, muggy new single Chemical Reaction, with a touch of Passion Pit and Hot Chip, too. It’s an irresistible, slick, and hooking indie pop love affair. Chemical Reaction follows on sensual last track Stop. Let’s revisit below, and spin leisurely around the room.

Manchester five piece Girl Friend return with another seductive track, Stop, after luring me in with Comforting Strangers last month, the lead single off their debut EP Everyone Wants To Be Wanted, out on Tri-Tone. As before, they tend to remind me of Wild Beasts on the song, with a touch of The Antlers and Everything Everything. Stop, like Comforting Strangers, carries plenty of warm, lustrous guitars, but channels plenty of brooding moodiness, too. I’ll tack on Comforting Strangers again below, too.
