By all accounts, I missed a phenomenal show last weekend when Portland’s Starfucker (STRFKR) played to a sold out crowd at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco. I can imagine how good the show was, based on my own many experiences catching them live in the past. I’m sure the crowd danced frenetically to Tape Machine from their recent album ‘Being No One, Going Nowhere’. We, too, can dance it up in our office rooms or living rooms right now as we dive into Starfucker’s new video for the spacey shimmering electronica/synthpop soiree. Its video is a captivating foray into sci-fi. Director Aidan Brezonick says: “We tried to pay tribute to the forefathers of science fiction, making something that had a nostalgic, open mindedness towards embracing the unknown. A character writing about the future, from the future, with an attachment to the past just felt very romantic. Plus, space sailboats are fun.” Starfucker will be touring through the end of February. In The End is Starfucker’s current glorious single from their 2016 album “Being No One, Going Nowhere” and it’s received a fittingly glam music video treatment now, too. It’s hard to believe Starfucker has been around for a full decade, but they have. There’s no sign of slowing down when it comes to these esteemed Portland psych pop and electro rock purveyors. We twirl around in heady delight to In The End’s lavish disco electro and smoldering dance rock. “Being No One, Going Nowhere” is out on Polyvinyl Records

Open Your Eyes” beckons Starfucker on the fifth song revealed from forthcoming album Being No One, Going Nowhere, yet all I want to do is close my eyes, raise my hands to the sky, and spin around in carefree joy. The synthy pop and steady thumping dance pop found on the Portland band’s latest heart warming song magnifies my excitement for their next album. This time around, they’ve given us a Phoenix like sort of electro rocking banger. Pre-order Being No One, Going Nowhere digitally from iTunes or physically from Polyvinyl Records ahead of it’s November 4th release.

Just as I had hoped, last month’s sudden re-emergence of Starfucker was the foreshadowing of a new album. The Portland band shared news of a forthcoming full length named Being No One, set to release on November 4th. They also unleashed a taste from the album, a psychedelic funk swash buckler named Tape Machine. A fine balance of 70′s rock charm and spacey blooping contemporary dance make Tape Machine a fine addition to Starfucker’s versatile and adored indie repertoire stretching across close to a decade. Pre-order Starfucker’s album Being No One, here.

One of the most pleasant surprises to cross my ears today was the sudden re-emergence of Portland’s Starfucker, whose versatile repertoire of electronic, indie rock, and synthpop has thrilled my senses for many years now. On new song Never Ever, the band chooses to go in a funky electro pop direction, and they utterly crush it. Never Ever is deeply catchy, its palpating beats, skittering synths, and melodic hooks massively vibrant and freshly rejuvenating. Purchase the new song on iTunes. This may be a sign of more new Starfucker to come this year. I’m praying for it.

This one premiered exclusively a week ago on This Song Is Sick, and I’ve given it a week to be safe before sharing it with you, as much as it pained me to wait, day after day after day. It’s torturous, when the song is sumptuous, like this remix of Portugal. the Man’s Creep In A T-shirt by Starfucker is. I mean, it’s only a congregation of two things I love very much: one of my all time favorite psych rock bands and an always terrific synthpop band  that I love dearly too! Starfucker’s remix of P.tM’s tune is a mesmerizing treat, giving the track some 80’s new wave flavor and an italo disco like pulse.

One of my favorite songs off Starfucker’s album Miracle Mile, which came out earlier this year, has a wacky new music video to accompany the deliciously synthy tune. While some of the songs on Miracle Mile were a departure from the Portland band’s previous sound, While I’m Alive harkens back to much older STRFKR. It’s a funky electronic formula that works for me.
