I’ve caught alt hip hop and electronic pop artist K.Flay live many, many times, and each time, she’s been mesmerizing and amazing live, if not even better than the prior time. Last night, I was at Popscene in San Francisco, catching her headline a highly energetic sold out set. She performed a bevy of tunes off her recent album Life As A Dog, an album I had helped crowdfund via PledgeMusic, as well as many of her older songs. One of my favorite tracks off Life As A Dog is the catchy, gritty Make Me Fade. It’s only fitting that I share a new rendition of the track right now. This new version features guests Sol and Buddy.

OFFICIAL VID: Mausi – My Friend Has A Swimming Pool

June 10, 2014

If there’s ever a tune specifically made for a pool party, it would have to be Mausi’s My Friend Has A Swimming Pool. Like the UK dance pop act’s early songs Sol and Move, it’s an ecstatic, infectious, groovy jam. Mausi has always seemed so adept at creating music that will pull you out of any pessimistic hole. Try staying mad, or sad, when you listen to this or to Sol, still my favorite Mausi track from a couple years ago. Watch the music video for My Friend Has A Swimming Pool below, which, of course, is filled with pool party footage. Duh. Oh yes, if you missed The Magician’s remix of the tune, please, treat yourself and check it out here.

If you were with IHM from the early days (over two and a half years ago!), you might recall me gushing about an indie pop act from the UK named Mausi. I’m still so super fond of their song Sol, among several others, and though it’s taken some time for a huge following to jump on the Mausi wagon, they surely have gained more fans with their brand new cover of Kiesza’s Hideaway (another recent IHM favorite). It’s a sexy, dreamy take on the song, which, by the way, is #1 on the charts in the UK this past week! Way to go, Kiesza! And go, Mausi, too! Let’s revisit Sol below, and dance dance dance!

OFFICIAL VID: MAUSI – Body Language

October 15, 2013

Over a couple years ago, I first featured a UK indie pop act named Mausi. Their song Sol. immediately grabbed a hold of me, and up till this day, it still gets stuck in my head very often. The foursome has taken their time to release more tunes of the past years, but each one they have shared has been an infectious, fun dance tune. Body Language is their brand new song and just like their previous ones, it’s another warm, light electropop tune. Watch the video for the tune below and for the umpteenth time, revisit Sol.

OFFICIAL VID: Mausi – Move

July 3, 2013

UK indie pop act Mausi released a brand new video for their hook laden, upbeat, dance inducing song Move. I’ve raved about these guys quite a few times since Fall of 2011, so I’m pretty eager to see them move on ahead (no pun intended) with their career. Everything I’ve heard from them so far, though only a few tunes, have been wonderfully infectious and good. And when I checked out some acoustic clips on YouTube, I was amazed by how great they sounded stripped down. Revisit bright, warm Sol below Move, both of which I’ve shared in abundance in the past. Sol’s the tune that first grabbed a hold of my ears. I fell in love with it right away.

Hey hey, it’s another new preview from Swedish indie rock band Shout Out Louds from their coming new album Optica, out on February 27 on Merge! Illusions is warmer and glossier than the last track previewed, Blue Ice, for which they released that limited edition, awesome, ice cut vinyl. Nevertheless, both tracks are very breezy and blissful. Sharing the Blue Ice official video again below.
