It comes as no surprise that this Belgian singer songwriter has already caught the attention of Red Bull Belgium offshoot and nightlife documenter Red Bull Elektropedia after being drawn into the satin chic electro soul of her song Slowly, a second taste from a debut album arriving later this spring. Liz Aku will be releasing that album, Ankhor, on Sonar Kollective. In the meantime, she entrances and melts us with her creamy grooving music, a sleek luxuriant concoction that melds honeyed Izzy Bizu with sophisticated Erykah Badu. You can listen to Ankhor’s lead single Seasons Change below, as well as listen to Slowly via Soundcloud. Ankhor arrives on May 5th.

Velveteen feels abound on jazzy chic To The Future, a luxuriant work of opulence from French producer, singer, and guitarist Sam Dian. Soul, R&B, and hip hop, and funk make a frisky breezy foursome on this smooth drafty tune. You’ll want to pick up your bae and swing around circles together in utter bliss. This Tom Misch-esque French groover is a free download, here.

I was fortunate enough to catch Canadian singer songwriter, rapper, and producer JAHKOY last spring in Austin at SXSW. In fact, I made it a point to go out of my way and run across town just for his set. My hopes to see him again magnify after listening to JAHKOY’s seductive new R&B ballad, California Heaven, a song which sees him teaming up with rapper ScHoolboy Q. The hip hop artists’s gritty rap verses add a dusty slink to JAHKOY’s gooey grooving, torrid sweltering tune. California Heaven is a syrupy ode to California that seems more fitting of sunny Los Angeles than foggy San Francisco. JAHKOY will be dropping a new EP entitled Foreign Water later this fall.

Grégoire, one half of swooning French duo Saje, introduced me to his new side project Glasses earlier this year by intoxicating us with a molten mix of deep house and mellow soul on Close To You. He continues to melt me into a helpless puddle with satin chic, gooey sentimental He Just. If I were wearing glasses instead of contacts right now, they’d most certainly be all misted up by Glasses. Bluesy simmering guitar add to the sentimental depth of this slow burning electro soul jam. He Just can also be streamed off Spotify.

Hayden James’ Just A Lover is deep bouncing, smooth sensual deep house jam, a racy and seductive late night dance floor anthem. It’s that sexy jam that Canadian producer POMO takes on for his latest remix. POMO gives Just A Lover into an eargasmic steely future house and funky garage makeover. The shifty dynamism and tactile ebullience of the track are mesmeric. The glassy sleek remix is divinely intoxicating.

Minneapolis duo Hi-Fi Cali dish out some sublime groove and smooth funk on Soulmates. It’s a buttery suave jam that combines retro velvet Toro Y Moi, electro funking Chromeo, and synthpopping Passion Pit. Turns out, Hi-Fi Cali is a project created by Chris Bartels of Bora York. He sure slings some twinkling indie pop melodics and radiant feel good vibes on Soulmates. Free download, here.

Intoxicated by the smooth richness of Salva’s remix of Elijah Blake’s  ‘I Just Wanna”. This one goes to those chill drunken nights where no one’s a sloppy drunk. It might be on the beach at night, during a back yard bonfire, but definitely with good company.

Some Little Daylight music is always welcome in my books, and though the Brooklyn pop act hasn’t offered up a new track for our eager ears, they’ve unleashed a spectacular remix of their song Be Long. Australian duo Twice As Nice’s edit of Be Long will lull you into a state of euphoria with its smooth guitars and woozy synths. It’s a gleaming, relaxing indie dance gem.

Have you heard JMSN’s own delicious remix of his track Street Sweeper yet? The opulent new edit by the Detroit producer features some guest rapping by Freddie Gibbs. Smooth and soulful, it’s a late night fitting, sexy new edition, complete with bluesy guitars. JMSN will be releasing his Blue Album on December 9.

So, I have a feeling the new Childish Gambino is sort of divisive. Am I right? If you haven’t heard it yet, he dropped a new tune named Sober over the weekend (labeled “rough”, so it’s likely not the finalized version). When I hit the play button and Glover’s falsetto smooth crooning filled my ears along with the very Michael Jackson-esque style of the tune, my eyes widened. What? What’s going on? Now, I’m not the biggest fan of Childish Gambino on earth, though I fully agree that he’s pretty amazing. I can’t help but find myself gravitating to Sober more than I usually do with his tracks. It’s incredibly shiny and upbeat, oozing with sexy, alluring warmth. I’m not complaining. Childish Gambino’s new mixtape STN MTN / KAUAI will be out later this year. I wonder what else he has in store for us.
