I can’t stop celebrating the fact that we can call Justice Skolnik one of our very own San Francisco grown talents. It’s only been a week since the rising producer gave us his genius re-work of Madeon’s smash hit You’re On, but here he is again, with a stellar remix of quintessential Flume classic, Sleepless. It takes some guts to take on such a well loved track from the future bass pioneer, but Justice Skolnik proves his mettle and does so with authority on an immaculate remix. He’s evolved Sleepless from that early 2012 chill trap/future bass sound into a state-of-the-art bubbly jouncing, airy flickering, and bright prancing treat. The next time you don’t want to go to bed yet, slap this track on and prepare to dance through the night. Just sneak some naps in at work, easy. Justice Skolnik’s Sleepless remix is a free download, here.

A relatively unknown New York act, 18 year old Ruchir gives me the bubbly-soul-filling sensation that a Madeon and Porter Robinson show brings. His new track, ‘Sleepless’, features Emma Sameth.

That last one I shared was a rather gloomy one, so let’s pick it up a hundred fold with a high energy remix of Swedish act Cazzette’s Sleepless, one of my favorite EDM tunes of 2014. Vancouver’s Moiez again teams up with New Yorkers Mysto & Pizzi (having dropped a killer remix of Zhu’s Faded together previously). If you’re ready to raise your fists in the air and practically glow with bliss, turn up the volume. This progressive house banger, along with the originals vocoder utilizing harmonies, will brighten your day, infuse you with liveliness, and melt your heart. The Sleepless remix is the third part of the producers’ remix trilogy that began with Goldroom’s Till Sunrise, then proceeded to Zhu’s Faded, and now finishes with Sleepless. It’s a love story for the EDM ages. Listen to all three over on Soundcloud, here.

I’ve been impatiently waiting for the chance to freely share this one with all of you. This track brings together Swedish electronic act Cazzette, Indonesian production duo Hotel Garuda, and Florida based producer Thero. It’s an international affair that packs a helluva triple punch. Sleepless is my all time favorite Cazzette tune, and Hotel Garuda and Thero have teamed up to give the song a very different angle and vibe. While the original had a more melancholic undertone, Hotel Garuda and Thero’s remix is a summery, sugary tropical house edit that takes it into far warmer and optimistic territory. Sleepless is suddenly a sweet crush song instead of a hopeless unrequited love song. Oh, and have I mentioned the sax yet? How romantic… sigh. I have a feeling there are going to many crush tapes (crush mixes?) carrying this remix.

Mad props to This Song Is Sick for first premiering this one a few days ago. I’m quite fond of Swedish electronic act Cazzette’s recent tunes, in particular, Sleepless. That song was remixed by some talented, fast rising producers a few months ago, namely Jenaux and Prince Fox, some of my favorite new producers this year. The ever brilliant New York based Prince Fox has turned in yet another thrilling remix of Cazzette, but this time, it’s a remix of Blind Heart. He gives the house flavored tune a future bass and trap tweak that’s full on glorious… just the kind of dramatic stuff that made me fall in love with Prince Fox when I first heard his Sam Smith remix earlier this year. Since we’re here, we might as well revisit that dope remix of Sleepless by Jenaux and Prince Fox!

Here’s another favorite remix of today. As I told Jenaux earlier today, I nearly fell out of my chair when I first saw this on my Facebook feed, before I checked my emails at all. Swedish act Cazzette’s Sleepless is one of my favorite electronic tunes this summer. Everytime I heart it, whether on the radio, or live at my favorite club, my heart skips a joyous beat and I find myself incredibly elated. Multiply that elation ten fold, because today, Sleepless has been remixed by two producers I have much respect and love for, Jenaux and Prince Fox. Thank you guys for choosing Cazzette for your latest. It’s a heavenly union of the three acts, infusing future bass, explosive progressive, and much texture into Cazzette’s feel good, melodic track. The final result is massively epic.

iheartmoosiq:

I do so love discovering talented bands and artists that reside right here at home in San Francisco, so it’s with much pleasure that I introduce hitherto unknown to me band The Tropics. I happened to be skimming the results of a local contest called Music Video Race, which is held annually, uniting bands and local filmmakers to create stunning music videos over the course of one weekend. The five piece’s video for Sons & Fathers, created by Bangers + Mash, which you can watch below, was the winner of this year’s contest (congrats!). I was immediately hooked by the thumping beat and freak folkish, iciness of the enchanting song. As I’ve oft mentioned, I’m quite fond of Scandinavian pop sounds, and there’s a quality to Sons & Daughters (in particular, the female vocals) that greatly reminds me of acts like Bjork, The Knife, and such, but paired with a jangly, sometimes spaghetti western growl. Upon delving deeper into their music, I found myself enjoying their stream of Sleepless, which you can find above, a more bright and quite lush piece of sunny indie pop music. The charming tune is available now on iTunes.

‘Scuse me as I re-blog a few features from the prior day to fix a missing-from-Hype-Machine issue.
