In case you haven’t heard, long time Sacramento dark electronic outfit Sister Crayon, the same duo who featured on The Glitch Mob’s last album, are now known as Rituals Of Mine. This transformation of sorts came about after some personal loss in the life of one of the members. As Rituals Of Mine, Terra and Dani have begun to unleash some incredible new music. They’ve also revealed a music video that pays homage to Oakland for their song Ride Or Die. Ride Or Die is a silver tongued, serpentine winding fusion of R&B, hip hop, and minimalist electronica. It’s a shiver inducing, transfixing listen that feels gritty and candid despite its pristine smooth velour. For another taste of the duo’s new material as Rituals Of Mine, stream glitch hop enthralling Devoted below, which also happens to be the title track from a debut LP that just dropped this morning on Warner. You can purchase the Devoted LP from iTunes

The Glitch Mob is dropping an 18 track remix collection of songs off their Love Death Immortality album on February 24th. We’ve already heard a fantastic and mellow remix of Our Demons by Filous, but today, I give you the entrancing work of electronic art that is Chrome Sparks’ remix of Beauty Of The Unhidden Heart, which of course, features vocals by Sacramento’s Sister Crayon. Chrome Sparks’ Beauty Of The Unhidden Heart is a massively moving piece, with cathartic build ups and drops that retain a chill and organic vibe.

Alluxe is a Los Angeles based producer and musician who’s been working with some big names in the scene for years, likely unbeknownst to you, as it was to me. She’s worked with the likes of Drake, Kanye, and Iggy Azalea, just to name a few. On Allure’s dark new single Hold You, she teams up with Sacramento’s very own Sister Crayon, who seem to be guesting on a growing list of electronic artists’ tunes (remember The Glitch Mob’s Beauty of the Unhidden Heart?). They lend some of their most impressive vocals yet on Allure’s somber new tune. Hold You is a heavy hitting, raw, and gritty electronic pop song with some guttural hip hop beats. It’s off the scale when it comes to gratifying, dramatic intensity.

OFFICIAL VID: Sister Crayon – Floating Heads

April 23, 2014

Yesterday, I shared Sister Crayon’s goosebump raising beautiful cover of Drake’s Hold On, We’re Going Home, and today, they’ve released a music video for their original single Floating Heads, which is off their Cynic EP. The beautiful song starts out almost gospel like with its long acappella styled introduction, but then the beats kick in and the song takes flight with the Sacramento duo’s signature sultry, smoky indie rock sound that sometimes reminds me of Bats for Lashes’ Natasha Khan and Philly electronic R&B act Polica. The underlying soulful trip hop flavor of the tune is so rich and resplendent.

Returning back to local regions with this goosebump inducing cover by Sacramento’s Sister Crayon. Sure, Drake’s Hold On, We’re Going Home is one of the most covered tunes of the past while, but Sister Crayon’s subtle, hushed version demands focal attention and is the type of listen that makes your spine tingle. The indie rock duo was recently featured on a stunning Glitch Mob song and has been featured on IHM numerous times in the past. For more gorgeous, breathtaking music by Sister Crayon, stream their trip hoppy single Cynic below.
