A “high five” is definitely in order after the epic night I just had last night. I’ve been waiting a very long time to see Norwegian pop sensation Sigrid live. The fast rising singer songwriter is was named BBC Sound of 2018 earlier this year, which made me kick myself even harder for having to miss out on her few performances at SXSW back in 2017 (most of them were before I’d arrived into Austin). I didn’t expect to have a chance to see her at the Independent in San Francisco, considering how easily she could have sold out an even bigger venue, but that’s exactly where I found myself last night, thoroughly captivated by the songbird’s pristine voice, sassy dance moves, and glorious pop songs. It’s only proper that we indulge in the Scandinavian starlet’s latest single High Five today, while I’m still aglow from the show. Her crisp sonorous voice and the melodious song’s ravishing drumwork bring me right back to last night’s exultant bliss. Will we get a debut album announcement soon? I sure hope so! If you’re not on I Heart Moosiq’s Instagram yet, make sure you follow along with some of our live music adventures, here! Check it out our footage from Sigrid’s sold out show for a taste of how amazing she is live. Stream High Five and some of Sigrid’s other recent singles on Spotify, here.

Those of you who’ve been following along with IHM this past year know how much we love Sigrid, and how often we’ve been championing her music and gleefully calling out her swift ascent. Before we dive into a magnificent remix of one of her songs, let’s all congratulate the Norwegian pop sensation on being named to BBC Sound of 2018′s long-list! Now, let’s sink into the chime florid, island breezy world of R3HAB’s remix of Sigrid’s Strangers. The Dutch producer transforms the snappy pop gem into a lush sonic wonderworld. It’s a summer effulgent dance anthem built around Sigrid’s incandescent voice. You can stream/download Sigrid’s original, here.

New Sigrid has surfaced, dripping in sweet glistening synths, swift shuddering beats, and her ever crisp & pristine vocals. Strangers is a fine electro-pop addition to this 21 year old Norwegian pop sensation’s growing repertoire of immaculate songs. She drops some of her usual snappy sass for a more fluid cascading approach that reminds me of fellow Scandi-pop projects like Highasakite and Mr. Little Jeans, but with the brisk jitters of Grace Mitchell and the glacial polish of Oh Land. I can’t help but kick myself hard again for having to miss out on Sigrid at SXSW earlier this year. Sure, she only played a few showcases, and I arrived late in the week, but I have a feeling I’ll never get another chance to see this blossoming star in a small space. Watch Sigrid’s lyric video for Strangers below. Stream/download the single, here.

If you’ve ever wondered how adorable Sigrid must have been when she was little, you only have to watch the music video for this song, Sister, which actually comes from her brother Tellef Raabe, a talented artist in his own right, and features Sigrid on guest vocals. The single comes from Tellef Raabe’s debut album Ideographic, and it’s quite the playfully chugging, synth glittering alt piece. Raabe has been compared to the likes of The National and the Smiths in the past due to his deep baritone voice, which is quite a delightful contrast to Sigrid’s divinely svelte voice. Sister isn’t actually about Sigrid, however. It’s about the other younger sister, Johanne, who’s been living away in other countries for years. This is Tellef’s tribute to her. Learn more about Tellef Raabe and his debut album on his website, here.

Mondays always wear me out, as I’m sure they do to many of you, too. Fortunately for us, we have a remix like this one to lift us up and breath new life into us as we round the corner on the toughest day of the week. British electronic trio Disciples has given Sigrid’s Plot Twist a crisp and buoyant makeover. Who says we can’t get a euphoric dance party started at the beginning of the week? The Swedish pop sensation also offered up a gorgeous and intimate acoustic rendition of Plot Twist, which you can stream via YouTube below. The original is out on iTunes, here.

Sigrid is without a doubt one of my favorite new artists this year, and she just released her debut EP, named after that infectiously punchy debut Don’t Kill My Vibe. Fake Friends is one of the four tracks off the Swedish pop sensation’s EP, and it’s nothing short of pop perfection, just like everything else we’ve heard from Sigrid. Its soaring magnificence and Sigrid’s crisp immaculate voice command our full attention. Also on the record is a beautiful acoustic track entitled Dynamite, which you can hear via a stunning video below. I’ve already watched it at least a dozen times. Sigrid’s vocals are sensational on the stripped down piano ballad. They remind me of a cross between Christine and the Queen and Adele. Debut EP Don’t Kill My Vibe can be streamed in full on Soundcloud, here. You can also stream the EP or purchase via alternate sources, here. Sigrid’s a star in the making, and we’re lucky to have her around.

I’ve been wondering how young Norwegian buzz sensation Sigrid would follow up on a debut single as colossal as Don’t Kill My Vibe. She set the tastemaker scene on fire quite instantaneously earlier this year when she gifted us her a first taste of her snappy pop and acrobatic vocals. Plot Twist is a fine follow up to that first single. But there’s no M. Night Shyamalan suprise to be found here. Plot Twist is exactly what I had hoped for from Sigrid. It’s more of Don’t Kill My Vibe’s bold soaring, punchy kicking electronic pop, but with hints of Louis The Child/Elohim like future pop production meandering through its rich soundscape. Sigrid’s mettle and fortitude are full display yet again on the hard hitting, vigorously empowering anthem. Sigrid, now signed to Island Records, has been splitting her time between Bergen and London. I can’t wait to see how the Sigrid journey continues to develop as 2017 progresses. You can purchase Plot Twist on iTunes, here.
