ARIA Award winners and much celebrated Australian indie pop rock purveyors Sheppard are kicking off a North American tour tonight right here in San Francisco at one of my absolute favorite Bay Area venues, the Rickshaw Stop! Right in time for this festive occasion comes a soaring new single from the six piece band. Coming Home is a high flying, luminous lifting alt pop anthem that really captures the band’s vigorous exuberance and their sheer capacity for feel good ebullience. Get ready to sing your lungs out and clap your hands silly to this infectious skyscraper of a tune. It’s a summery stomper and a magnificent return from the band as they prepare to release their second full length next year. Grab the single, here, and find out more about their North American tour on their website, here.

Aussie indie poppers and ARIA Award winners Sheppard are back, and in such an immense way, too! Keep Me Crazy is a larger than life anthem and it heralds the arrival of the group’s second full length album. The infectious and effulgent stomper is a taste of summer to come, a Walk The Moon meets Imagine Dragons spectacular that will tear up all the charts. You can grab the tune from digital retailers, here. The band promises more news soon regarding their sophomore album.

Norwegian producer Matoma has certainly managed to conquer a huge swath of the tropical house scene with his tracks this past year. I’ve seen his name topping buzz charts and iTunes charts these prior weeks. Surprisingly enough, Matoma’s latest reveal is a remix of Australian alternative band Sheppard’s infectious hit Geronimo. Also unexpectedly, though summery, melodic, and balmy, Matoma steps away from some of his signature tropical hues on the remix. Instead, his gorgeous Geronimo remix is a stringy, cinematic, and regal offering. It’s massively epic.

I know I’m a little late to the game on this one, but I’ve been digging on Australian alt band Sheppard’s Geronimo ever since I first heard it on Live 105’s Soundcheck some weeks back. I also missed out on seeing Sheppard live last week, which was probably an utterly idiotic move on my part, since I doubt they’ll be playing small venues for much longer with such soaring, infectious alt rock music. An email about Sheppards in my inbox today prompted me to finally feature the band, since the delay was much egregious on my part. If Geronimo’s hooking, exuberant chorus doesn’t get stuck in your head while lifting your spirits into the sky after you take a listen, then you’re made of stone. The song is off their debut album Bombs Away, which came out over the summer in Australia.
