A “nova” is defined in astronomy as a star who shows a sudden increase in brightness before returning to its original state. A “Bliss Nova”, from what I’ve learned about this Toledo based project, is a band whose brightness shows no sign of fading considering the consistent brand of epic charged synthpop they’ve been unleashing this past month. Jam out to the brothers’ synthwavey single Say It, a spacey glimmering, electro thrumming spectacular awash in 80s cinematics. Bliss Nova has also revealed a luscious spiraling single named Now this past month, which you can stream below. The two succulent indie electro tunes are out now as a split single. Head to iTunes, here, to purchase the tracks. The duo are preparing to release their debut full length in 2018.

It was but last week that I had my first serendipitous encounter with brothel., a producer out of Colorado who likes to dabble in dark electronica. He had teamed up with UK producer SIDEWALKS AND SKELETONS on a witchy haunting treat named Drowning. Fast forward to this week, and guess who I encounter yet again with another dose of crepuscular deliciousness? brothel.! And this time around, he’s given Flume’s Say It, featuring the ever lovely Tove Lo, a sensationally serrated remix. This one’s right up my alley with its bristling synths and stewing beats. brothel.’s draggy witch trap interpretation of Say It is guttural and ghostly, visceral and eerie. It was but less than half a day ago that I was waxing poetic over Anna Lunoe’s entrancing deep house twist on Flume’s Say It, the smash hit featuring Tove Lo. Aside from that remix, we’ve also indulged in Clean Bandit’s edit previously, too. We now turn to French producer Stwo for his version of the track, also on the official remix package dropped last Friday. Say It gets a deep wobbling, guttural rippling turn under Stwo’s tutelage. It marches slow and deliberate, resolute and staunch, twisting nebulously around Tove Lo’s sharp slicing vocals. Stwo’s shadowy future bass approach shudders and tremors in the most beautifully stately manner. Stream or purchase all the tracks from Flume’s Say It remix pack, here.

Last Friday, the brilliant producer known as Flume released his remix package for Tove Lo featured hit Say It, one of so many amazing tunes off of Harley’s sophomore album Skin. Though everything off the package is flat out amazing, we’re going to focus on Anna Lunoe’s remix for the moment. Get ready for the grand and majestic as the Los Angeles via Sydney producer gives us her resounding take on Say It. Trumpeting flares, tenaciously entrancing beats, and Tove Lo’s ever sassy topline make this deep house meets trap hybrid a cavalier and tenacious thriller. Stream the full Say It Remix package featuring the original single and additional edits by Clean Bandit, SG Lewis, and Stwo on Soundcloud

Portland’s ECHOS has been a standout project this past year, not only due to the quirky spelling of the duo’s name, but for their stirring brand of electronic pop, too. New song Say It might be their best yet, a dusky enchanting aria whose chill trap effulgence and Poliça meets Daughter like enrapturing vocals steal my heart away. Say It is taken from duo’s self titled debut EP, out October 3rd. The gorgeously aching, bittersweet endearing song comes with a cinematic music video, too, which you can view below. Purchase Say It or pre-order Echos’ debut EP from iTunes.

I think it’s pretty safe to say that Flume’s sophomore album Skin is one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year right now. Harley Streten, the Australian producer who heavily influenced much of the pop and electronic music scene we enjoy today with his debut album, has been slowly revealing star studded tracks (and brain rattling instrumental tastes) off of Skin in the past months. Today, he comes at us with a magnificent collaboration with Swedish pop star Tove Lo named Say It. It was just this morning that I was at the gas station and Flume’s Never Be Like You, featuring Kai, started playing through their speakers. This new one, with Tove Lo, has all the makings of a Top 40 future pop hit too, minus the fact that Tove Lo goes no holds barred with her spunky vocals and fierce lyrics per usual. I’m glad Flume is finally getting the mainstream praise and love he deserves. Skin is going to make a colossal impact next month.

This new remix of Austin duo Bronze Whale’s chill trappy Say It nearly brings me back to my EDM-head raver days. Cape Town producer Das Kapital flips it completely, giving the track plenty of menacing darkness and grittiness. It’s about as exhilarating of an electronic track as I’ve heard all week, thumping thunderously with a mesh of good ol’ acid house, jungle, breaks, and hardcore, all sounds I used to douse my ears with many eons ago. The conglomerate of styles is self described by Das Kapital as “nu-acid”. Well then, can I have more of this, please? The remix is the first single off Waxhole Records’ “Double Feature EP” which includes 8 remixes of Bronze Whale’s Drive and Say It. Double Feature is out on September 18.
