Having been quite successfully wooed by Parisian outfit AIR BAG ONE last year, I spent much of this year wondering what they’ve been up to. Turns out, band member Wendy Killmann has been keeping himself busy with a new solo project named Rose Tiger, from which comes a scintillating debut on this glorious Friday. If you’re as much in love with the 80′s as I am, you’re going to fall head over heels for Rose Tiger’s first song, High And Low. The neon pastel song emits an endless stream of retro new wave from within its twinkling ocean of dreamy synths and balmy yet peppy beats. Wendy coos swiftly and coolly, immediately evoking the likes of Wham! and Tears For Fears. There’s a frisky playfulness to High And Low, yet its lofty lyrics deliver some restless angst. High And Low comes with a lyric video that appropriately pays homage to videos of the past, as if recorded on lo-fi VHS tape. I can’t help but be overtaken with a massive sense of nostalgia as Rose Tiger takes us into the past. For more on Rose Tiger and his debut track, visit Rose Tiger’s website, here.
