RL Grime is what I’d consider production royalty. The WeDidIt collective member has been a blazing pioneer in the trap, grime, and bass scene since 2011, and it was just over a month ago when he released an unexpectedly melodic and ethereal single with Daya named I Wanna Know, shedding his raucous jarring grittiness of yore. Los Angeles producer Kaivon, who previously dropped our jaws with his dramatic remix of Flume classic Insane, takes us on a propulsive odyssey with his take on the beautiful RL Grime track. We go on a life-changing journey with the producer as he vaults us to breathtaking apexes with his dynamic drops and expansive future bass/chill trap on the exultant remix. Kaivon’s I Wanna Know remix is a free download, here.

RL Grime sheds some of that grime on a beautifully crisp and crystalline stirring original named I Wanna Know, and he’s linked up with Grammy-winning Pittsburgh starlet Daya on the track, too. While some of our usual favorite tracks from the Los Angeles based producer are raucous jarring bonanzas, there’s no denying the immaculate beauty of the thrilling synth arpeggios and cinematic soundscape found on his new soaring single. Plus, there are still plenty of swervy twists to keep us on our toes (though I swear it feels like my toes aren’t touching the ground when I’m caught up in this exultant track). Watch RL Grime’s lyric video for the song below, and snag the immense track from iTunes, here.

New Los Angeles by way of Boston electronic project Paperwings blew us away last month with the producers’ first release, a stratospheric soaring melodic bass remix of Mickey Valen’s Wildcard. We marked the newcomers as one to watch right then and there. The pair now return with their second tune, and it’s a stunner of a remix, too. They’ve taken RL Grime and Miguel’s Stay For It and given it an exhilarating high voltage makeover, melding future trap and melodic bass in the process. Paperwings’ remix, brimming with regal build ups and gritty drops, is a proper thrill ride. Download the track for free, here.

Henry Steinway, who you know as the legend, RL Grime, will be releasing his new album Nova later this year. It goes without saying that this is going to be a massive record, featuring a myriad of guest talent. RL Grime’s new single Stay For It is already a star studded affair. It features the great Miguel on impassioned vocals. Stay For It is a feverish intense, emotionally charged trap opus. It’s as exhilarating as they come. Together, RL Grime and Miguel soar towards the sun with their grandiose anthem. RL Grime has announced a tour in support of his new album that will take him to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on October 20th. Find out more about the tour, here.

Who can forget that incredible Flume tribute from earlier this year, and the brilliant producer behind it, TRAILS? I know I can’t, and if you somehow missed out on the track, it’s a must for any fan of Flume or trap or future bass, so I’m tacking it on below. The German producer lights us up with a new one as he flips RL Grime’s Core and makes it all his own. The beatific trap remix brightens Core up, clearing out its dirt and soot for a wavy percolating, crisp flaring adventure. TRAILS is no doubt blazing a trail in the electro trap scene with his sonic architecture. His Core flip is a free download, here.

Did you really think you were going to get away from me for one day without any trap? Impossible! 19 year old Los Angeles based producer DEVAULT and Canada’s Wildfire combine clout to remix RL Grime’s Always, giving it a dramatic and cinematic edit full of future bass pomp and circumstance. Yes, it’s as glorious as they come, a lustrous and electrifying remix that will echo into eternity. Grab the track for free, here.

There’s no doubt in my mind that producer and vocalist duo BONNIE X CLYDE are partners in crime to watch. They newcomers grabbed hold of my electronic and trap hungry attention this morning with a new edit of RL Grime’s The Hills remix, but I was even more drawn into their sound when I visited recent original Rise Above, a trap and future bass extravaganza with much endearing vocals. EDM festival heads will appreciate the sheer power of the track, while homebodies will love the enchanting properties of the wistful melody. If XYLØ went full on trap, this might be how they’d sound. Download Rise Above for free, here. Then jump into Bonnie X Clyde’s edit of RL Grime’s The Hills below for some bonus trap thrills.

There’s little that needs to be said when something as epic as this track surfaces. RL Grime, who I just witness murder it at Outside Lands Music Fest last month, has presented us with a remix of provocative R&B king The Weeknd’s The Hills. The Weeknd and RL Grime, it doesn’t get much better than that for trap fans. It’s a clamorous, intensive The Hills with steep slopes, sharp peaks, and bottomless voids. Yes, it’s pure magnificence.
