We’ve been extremely loyal fans of Capital Cities for the past half decade, and we watched with so much pride when the Los Angeles based dance pop and disco funk project exploded onto everyone’s radars with long championed single Safe And Sound, one of the best tunes ever to dance to with your best buddies live. Sebu Simonian and Ryan Merchant continue to give us excellent reason to stay devout fans as they surprise us with a seasonal EP named Swimming Pool Summer, from which comes this balmy swaying, saccharine glowing treat, Girl Friday, featuring legendary rapper Rick Ross. It even comes with an endearing animated lyric video. Swimming Pool Summer is out now via iTunes, here.

For our final course of the evening, we leave room for the best kind of dessert, a well put together mashup by LA’s gifted production talent, Kap Slap. Heathen Thieves Love Lamborghini’s is three minutes fifty two seconds of creative brilliance. Kap Slap seamlessly blends some of the year’s biggest hits from artists like Twenty One Pilots, Martin Garrix, Rick Ross, Bebe Rexha, Grandtheft, Skrillex, Troyboi, Ookay, JayKode, and Party Thieves for a dirty trap-tacular end of year soiree. Bump this one loud as we count down the final days of 2016. The whomping mashup can be downloaded, here.

PRXZM is a production duo from right here in San Francisco, and they continue to impress and delight me with their latest, a cover of DJ Khaled, Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne classic I’m On One. They give the song a delicate touch on their effortlessly wavey future R&B and chill trap rendition, which they’ve named i’m on 1. The effervescent twinkler is free download, here

JOYRYDE is a fast rising producer who’s setting the trap scene ablaze, having been supported by the likes of DJ Snake, Major Lazer, Big Gigantic, Yellow Claw, Tchami, Jauz, Knife Party, NGHTMRE, GRiZ, Ephwurd, Ghastly, and many more already. He kicks off 2016 with a filthy wicked trap joint named Windows, a ripped monster of a tune that was originally written as a collaboration effort with Shaquille O’Neal, but Rick Ross ended up filling in the vocals instead. The lurching, swerving track is is so vicious that I wonder if any windows could survive a rightful high volume blast of the track. I suppose that’s why you need to cruise with the swag windows down. Downoad Windows for free on JOYRYDE’s site.

Panera Bread may be a wacky title and topic for a rap track, but the song’s pretty dang dope. Rockie Fresh is a Chicago rapper and on this fresh track, he teams up with Rick Ross and Lunice (one half of TNGHT)! The spacey trap song is sure to get some of y’all bouncing. It’s off Rockie Fresh’s coming mixtape The Birthday Tape (yes, to celebrate his birthday).

New Rick Ross featuring Jay-Z and Dr. Dre

July 20, 2012

Rick Ross, Jay-Z, and Dr. Dre? It doesn’t get more epic hip hop than that. The song is titled 3 Kings. I’m not too sure I’d consider Rick Ross on equal king ground as Dr. Dre and Jay-Z just yet, but this is one wicked collaboration. It’s the latest single off Rick Ross’ album God Forgives, I Don’t. Check it….

The newest track from Nas features Rick Ross, and it’s a freaking dope one. It’s called Accident Murderers, and out of the previews off Nas’ upcoming album Life Is Good, this may be my favorite. Seriously.

Rick Ross X Usher

May 15, 2012

On Rick Ross’ upcoming fifth album “God Forgives, I Don’t” is this sexy collaboration with the crooner extraordinaire himself, Usher. Touch’N You is a hawwwwt r&b and hip hop collab. I’m not super keen on the rap verses in this, but Usher’s vocals? Hellz yea, thanks! Hmm…. random thought… Frank Ocean or Usher when it comes to velvety, sleek, swoon inducing r&b crooning? Toughie… they’re both so great when on point. They’re not exactly identical in style, but very similar at times. Well, I can’t wait to hear what incredible remixes will result from Touch’N You. Can someone slow it down and chop & screw it, ASAP? Wooo that’ll be sweet.

Hustlin’

oOoOO

I was surfing around, checking out stuff, checking out witch house, “liking” more artists/bands that I somehow missed before that I’m fond of. Somehow, I found myself checking out oOoOO again, whom I like a great deal outta the still limited innovative witch house material and artists I know. This cover of Rick Ross’ Hustlin’ by Butterclock featuring oOoOO was performed at the Mercury Lounge, and it must have been amazing live. I’m sure this clip does it no justice! Checking out Butterclock’s other work and she seems to be really good at what she does vocally and on decks too.
