If Swedish producer and singer MAYKA’s sultry voice sounds familiar, it’s probably due to the fact that the musician’s role in electro-pop duo Dream Team, whom we’ve featured numerous times on IHM. She goes huge anthemic pop on her solo debut, Rich, a sensationally enthralling listen with vivacious beats and huge brass bursts that feels like Mr Little Jeans on euphoria inducing steroids. Rich was produced alongside LIOHN, who was also behind Axwell & Ingrosso’s smash hits like More Than You Know and Renegade. Before Death Team, Mayka first rose to prominence in the dance music scene as a  DJ and producer at parties across the US and Asia. She also ran her own show on Swedish Radio P3. It’s clear the adroit artist is ready to take on the world with her new solo project. Keep uo with MAYKA on Facebook, here, and Twitter, here.

Rich in feels I truly am while I’m lost in the wealth of dusky shuddering bass and lithe coiling synths of LAOISE’s sensual haunting, moody simmering new single. The Dublin based singer songwriter presents us with shadowy electro pop and silky R&B pop on Rich, her first new release since the release of her debut EP Halfway. Rich is our first taste of her next EP, due out next year. Its minimalist soundscape, gossamer vocals, and glossy swells are reminiscent of James Blake but with the more luxuriant and lavish consistency like that of BANKS. Rich can also be streamed via Spotify, here.

UK singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cosmo Sheldrake is another one of those versatile, unique artists who has solidly captured my attention with his avant-garde music over the past year. New offering Rich, which features Anndreyah Vargas, is an utterly bewitching song, mixing folk, soul, blues, and pop. Anndreyah’s flittery vocals and Cosmo Sheldrake’s brilliant composition full of orchestral elements, including plenty of magical horns, take me to a world and time far removed from my mundane Monday morning. I find the song reminding me of my visit to New Orleans years ago, where everything carries haunting, sacred, and ancient qualities. A vibe reminiscent of a mix of Alex Winston and My Brightest Diamond also arises as I lose myself in the infectious, spellbinding song. Cosmo Sheldrake’s new EP, Pelicans We, will be out April 6th.
