Ohio alt band SomaKindaWonderful’s Reverse was one of my favorite tunes earlier this year, and just the thought of the song brings its melting melody and catchy hooks to mind. Australian producer Elk Road, who gave us an incredible remix of Jaymes Young’s Habits Of My Heart some months ago (which many of you liked), has turned in an epic remix of Reverse. The new indie electronic take is a smooth, futuristic edit, but it retains the original’s poignant grittiness and alt guitar vibe. Elk Road’s remix completes a set of remixes of Reverse by the likes of Passion Pit, Oliver Nelson, Mansions On The Moon, Steve James, Tomas Barfod, and Sicarii, all available to stream on Spotify. While we’re here, let’s revisit Elk Road’s stellar remix of Jaymes Young’s Habits Of My Heart again, below.

I’m counting down the days till SomeKindaWonderful’s self titled debut album releases on June 24. The Cleveland alt pop band has had a hold of me ever since debut single Reverse lured me in earlier this year. Finally, after hearing some brilliant covers of classic hip hop songs, they’ve given us some new music off the forthcoming release. Police is a gritty, infectious anthem that continues that dark, grainy sound that we heard on Reverse. It’s a fantastic tune for those that dig both Imagine Dragons and The Neighbourhood, as it lies somewhere in between.

I’m nearly jumping out of my skin waiting impatiently for new music from Cleveland alt pop band SomeKindaWonderful after being utterly swept off my feet by their debut single Reverse earlier this year. It’s still one of my favorite alt pop songs of the year. SomeKindaWonderful’s debut album comes out on June 24. Though they haven’t given us much new music to hear off the album, they have given us a fantastic cover of 2Pac’s California Love. They continue to put a sultry, smokey, brooding spin on classic hip hop tracks with this brand new cover of Notorious B.I.G.’s Juicy. The alt take on the rap classic reminds me greatly of The Neighbourhood. It’s dark, yet smoldering hot. Now, I have this irresistible urge to listen to Reverse again, so let’s tune in below…

Tomas Barfod remix of SomeKindaWonderful’s Reverse

Danish producer Tomas Barfod has taken on a song I’ve been loving very, very much for some time now. Barfod brings his electronic beats to Cleveland alt poppers SomeKindaWonderful’s debut single Reverse. It’s a mesmerizing remix that retains the original’s catchy chorus, but it also turns it into a dance floor ready hypnotic jam to groove around to with reckless abandon. As for the original, if you haven’t heard it around yet, you’re going to, but check it out first below the remix. It’s such a magnificent, romantic, epic, powerful, beautiful gem with some classic 60’s soul and R&B flavors in its anthemic alt rock sound. It’s a helluva stellar debut by SomeKindaWonderful. Is this song going to be huge? I think so!
