My heart skipped a beat when I came across this remix that unites two of our faves into one gorgeously captivating song. Atlanta based indie rock/alt rock veterans Manchester Orchestra put out one of our favorite albums last year in the form of A Black Mile to the Surface, and one of the best songs off the record is undoubtedly The Gold. Syracuse baroque pop and indie rock darlings Ra Ra Riot have given the song a beautiful and understated remix treatment, with softly churning electronic elements awash in dreamy ambling introspection. Accompanying the remix is another official remix of The Gold by Melbourne’s Slow Dancer, which you can stream below. It’s a slow waltzing beauty, too, that simmers tenderly and sadly. Both remixes are available from Manchester Orchestra’s iTunes page, here.

It’s not everyday we encounter a remix of Ra Ra Riot. In fact, the last time we shared one was nearly a year ago. So, I was pleasantly surprised to come upon a fresh new edit of Absolutely, a favorite off of Ra Ra Riot’s 2016 album Need Your Light, which I happen to adore deeply. Paris’ Androma gives Absolutely an incandescent dance makeover brimming with brisk buoyant energy. This crispy house makeover is a smorgasbord of bright throbbing chords. You won’t be able to resist the urge to dance.

Via a lyric video, Ra Ra Riot has revealed yet another treasure of a tune off their forthcoming album, Need Your Light. And once again, I’m fully captivated and thoroughly enamored with the new song, a bright and punchy baroque pop jam entitled Foreign Lovers. The strings on the piece dart about nimbly with scintillating spirit while its organ seems eager to engulf the world with wide eyed wonder and joy. Need Your Light drops February 19th on Barsuk. I’m counting down the days till next Friday.

I’m really, really looking forward to Ra Ra Riot’s new album Need Your Light which comes out February 19th on Barsuk. Not only have I pre-ordered the album on CD, but I also have one of those gorgeous limited edition translucent blue vinyls coming my way, too. The most recent track the band revealed off Need Your Light was last month’s Absolutely, a radiant burst of synthpop euphoria. French duo Dim Sum has remixed Absolutely, giving it ethereal tropical chimes and a weightless dreaminess that mixes deep house, future beats, and French disco house. Dim Sum’s remix is a breezy breath of chill summer delight. Alongside the splendid weather we’re having right now in the Bay, I find myself nearly convinced it’s already springtime.

I’ve been thirsting for more new tunes off of Ra Ra Riot’s upcoming album Need Your Light. You might have noticed how head over heels I am for Water, their collaboration with Rostam of Vampire Weekend from the album. When I saw that they were selling beautiful limited edition translucent blue vinyl copies of Need Your Light, I couldn’t resist but to shell out. I trust that the rest of the album would enrapture me as much as Water does, and sure enough, new reveal Absolutely is a radiantly engulfing stream of synthpop euphoria topped off with gorgeous classic strings. Need Your Light will be out February 19th via Barsuk Records.

If road trips like the one we went on with The Royal Concept in my prior post aren’t your thing, then maybe hiking is, which happens to be one of my favorite pastimes. Let’s join Ra Ra Riot and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij on a trek through LA that starts in the desert and ends at the beach in their video for Water, a song I’m so deeply, head over heels in love with, it’s not even funny. Water is a ponderous gem that brings together obvious elements from both Ra Ra Riot and Vampire Weekend, somehow melding them into one magnificent baroque flavored synthpop tune steeped in contemplative majesty. Ra Ra Riot will be touring across the US this Spring after they release their fourth full length album, Need Your Light, on Barsuk come February 19th.

Here’s some massive news for all the Ra Ra Riot fans out there. The Syracuse rock veterans will be releasing a forth full length on Barsuk come February 19th. From Need Your Light comes a first fantastic tune, Water, revealed via a lyric video. And Water is a collaboration with Vampire Weekend’s Rostam! I told you this was some sensational news. Water is so good, Zane Lowe already dropped it earlier today on his Beats1 show. It’s distinctly an amalgamation of both acts’ sounds, a steadily charging battalion of majestic sound steeped in baroque pop and filled with memorable lyrics.

I’m very fond of New York band Royal Tongues’ recent debut single The Balance, and it’s such a treat that the track has been remixed by none other than beloved indie rockers Ra Ra Riot. Their rendition of the incredibly lively indie pop song is a much more languid and delicate listen, infused with some of Ra Ra Riot’s signature baroque style. Revisit the original below, if you missed my loving praise previously. Do you like Youngblood Hawke? The Royal Concept? Don’t miss out on this again.

It’s been over half a year since EXROYALE tore into the indie scene with their excellent debut single Give It Up. They’re finally back with their second ever track, titled Without It, and it proves the potency we heard in Give It Up wasn’t a mislead. The Portland act is mesmerizing on the synthpop gem with its R&B flavored vocals and its hint of psychedelia. Check out last year’s Give It Up below. There’s also grooving remix of Give It Up by Ra Ra Riot, who, incidentally, I’m reminded of by EXROYALE’s sound, blended with a touch of Active Child and How To Dress Well.
