Janice is an R&B newcomer from Sweden who’s already blowing up back at home. In fact, her debut album arrives very soon, on February 2nd, and she’s been nominated for a Swedish Grammy for Best New Act. It’s only a matter of time before she makes a wide imprint on the states. Just watch her new video for Queen, and revel in her exceptional voice, a sonorous and soulful knockout. It’s no wonder

Janice has been compared to the likes of Jessie Ware, Lianne La Havas, and Seinabo Sey. Janice’s single Queen is a resolute and powerful single, with luscious strings, rhapsodic organ chords, and heartfelt piano keys. Stream/download this knockout R&B pop/gospel pop ballad, here.

With a triumphant march comes Flint Eastwood’s new tune, Queen, a song with regal brass and majestic drums. It doesn’t get more grandiose than the Detroit based solo project’s massive new single. Despite its bombastic approach, Queen is also a sultry smolderer, partly due to Jax Anderson’s deep assured vocals and partly due to the song’s fiery fierce mettle. The empowering anthem comes ahead of Women’s Marches scheduled all across this weekend. I’m left ready to raise a fist to the air and stomp to the ridged cadence of this anthem. Queen is the lead single for a new EP arriving this year.

Here’s a super fun mashup by Chicago duo The White Panda. Mixing Queen, Bowie, and…. wait for it… BRUNO MARS, they give you Under Treasure! Funky to the max, it’s a jam that’ll beg you to dance. What a cool mix of old and new and a testament to how timeless music can really be. The mashup artwork for the cover is kind of cool, too! If you ever wanted to blend those three together, looks wise.

Janelle Monae’s Erykah Badu featuring song Q.U.E.E.N. is already one helluva funky spunky catchy fun tune. Who can take it up another notch? Well, none other than the legend, the BIG influence on Monae and so many others, the incredibly eccentric and amazing… Prince! That’s right! Prince remixed Q.U.E.E.N.! He’ll also be featured on Monae’s coming new album The Electric Lady out in September. The purple one is making a bold statement with his support of Monae and by collaborating with her. There should be some epicness on the horizon!

UPDATE: Looks like the audio was taken down, head over to Pin Board to listen: http://pinboardblog.com/2013/06/audio-janelle-monae-feat-erykah-badu-q-u-e-e-n-princepaisley-park-remix/

Uhhhhh. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Hopefully, NME is completely off on this one too, just like they were off on Bloc Party auditioning a new singer. No offense at all to Lady Gaga (I know some of y’all hate her but chill she does have talent and uniqueness). But Queen? No way. That ain’t right. We’ll see. I think they could COLLABORATE and do some awesome stuff that way, but yea right… lead singer? I think NME is sensationalizing again. Pulling hamsters out of hats and calling ‘em rabbits to make the story more interesting. I bet it’s just some collaborations.
