I have a feeling many of you are already familiar fans of Tonight Alive, a pop punk/pop rock band from Australia who’ve been around since 2008. The quartet are currently ramping up for the release of their fourth studio album, Underworld, and they’ve released a music video for its third single, Disappear, a resounding and magnificent alt anthem featuring none other than Lynn Gunn of ever popular Massachusetts synthy alt rock band PVRIS. Tonight Alive singer Jenna McDougall explains: “Disappear is a song about the escapist inside all of us. As you can expect from Tonight Alive, the lyrics discuss freedom, but this time with a flavour of anonymity and detachment. Disappear was written with the intention of sounding neither like Pvris or Tonight Alive, and aimed to capture the sonic imagery of a long straight highway out of your comfort zone.” Underworld hits the stores on January 12th via Hopeless Records, pre-order, here.

On Friday, August 26th, those at 1015 in San Francisco will witness a trifecta of immense electronic talent as cln, Crywolf, and ILLENIUM regales a sold out crowd with each of their sets. I’ve caught two out of three the last time they played in the Bay, and they were intensely magnetic, stirring up a great amount of deeply overwhelming emotion with their music. There’s no doubt Crywolf will be incredible again, as he was last time at Popscene, delivering his mix of live and electronic elements, all at the same time, while pulverizing hearts with his heart rending vocals, too. As the show approaches, Crywolf has unleashed a stunning cover of PVRIS’ hit song St. Patrick, making it all his own with his cinematic electronic approach. The beautiful sweeping cover is a free download, here.

PVRIS has finally unleashed a music video for their dramatically spellbinding electro rock anthem Eyelids, and the darkly riveting visuals are a fine fit for the Massachusetts based band’s darkly fascinating sound. Eyelilds comes from their 2014 debut album White Noise, and the stunning tune is a worthy reminder of the band’s potent power. They’re even heading out on tour with Fall Out Boy later this month, so their clout in the alternative scene is only going to grow ever greater. Hopefully, a video for Eyelids is a sign of new material to come. White Noise is available on iTunes.

OFFICIAL VID: PVRIS – Holy

July 2, 2015

Last year, a band from Boston named PVRIS dropped their alt rock and pop punk gem White Noise, a song which hooked me in immediately when I encountered it. Reminding me heavily of Flyleaf and Paramore, the band and that gem proceeded to blow up quite a lot. Re-visit that tune below. Fast forward to today, and PVRIS has revealed another superb, mellifluous tune named Holy via a brand new music video, premiered by Billboard. There’s no doubt that the trio will be an even bigger deal in the alt scene soon. They’ve been stealing hearts on the Warped Tour and have appearances at Reading and Leeds festivals coming up, as well as a string of dates with Circa Survive in Australia. Holy is off the band’s debut album, White Noise, out right now on Rise Records.

Let’s keep those tropical rays of warmth going with a slick and swanky remix of PVRIS’s Mind Over Matter by Los Angeles’ Alex Mescudi and his buddy DJ Scout. Future bass and summery house pair up for an alluringly opulent experience. The rich and resplendent remix is a fitting complement for PVRIS’ beautiful vocals.

While doing some random exploration on Soundcloud, I elatedly encountered an alternative band named PVRIS, from Boston. White Noise is the driving, melodramatic title track off their debut album, out November 3rd on Rise Records. On it, there’s a mixing of alt rock with a sliver of punk and some majorly hooking pop flair. I can’t help but immediately be reminded of Paramore and many other alt rock bands I’ve listened to over the years, with perhaps a touch of Flyleaf but far less heavy. For more of their infectious and lively music, also check out St Patrick and My House, below.
