If you haven’t listened to Flume’s new Skin Companion EP II since its release last week, what are you waiting for? The now Grammy winning electronic virtuoso dazzles with yet another set of incredible tracks, any of which feature massive guests, too. As a huge fan of Glass Animal’s famous peanut butter vibes, I was immediately drawn to Fantastic, which features Dave from Glass Animals on languorous drawling vocals. Glass Animals and Flume make a hypnogic pair on the rumbling head trip of a future bass ambler. Also on the EP is a solo instrumental named Depth Charge that more than lives up to its name and harkens back to earlier Flume. Harley teams up with Moses Sumney on a woozy marching, introspective brooding cut named Weekend. He also links up with Pusha T on what is probably the most harshly rattling, explosive jolting track on the EP, Enough. Stream all these face melting treats below. Flume’s Skin Companion EP II is available from all major outlets, here. You can also pre-order the EP on gorgeous 150g 12″ vinyl, here. The vinyl edition includes an unannounced bonus fifth track!

Zeds Dead’s star studded Northern Lights album is most certainly one of the highlight electronic dance albums of the year, and red hot single Too Young is easily one of the top jams of this fall. We dive into the jaunty snapping dance track via its adorable stop motion animation music video tonight as we whip our heads from side to side to Rivers Cuomo and Pusher T’s lilting vocals. This playful charming mid-tempo treat showcases this Canadian production duo’s imaginative vision and versatile skillset. Snag your copy of Zeds Dead’s Northern Lights from iTunes.

Oakland’s own rising production star KRNE continues to enrapture and thrill by remixing Baauer hit Kung Fu, which features hip hop stars Pusha T & Future on guest vocals. It’s a majestic future bass and intense trap roller coaster ride on KRNE’s whomping remix, a melodically arresting experience despite its high energy percussive exuberance. KRNE’s soaring and invigorating remix is a free download, here.

If you haven’t listened to Hudson Mohawke’s incredible album Lantern yet, you need to. It’s one of this year’s best albums, a wicked gallery of soul moving, brain jiggling, heart pummeling music by the Scottish hip hop and electronic producer. The album also features some wicked collaborations, one of which is this smooth, gentler track, Warriors, featuring Ruckazoid and Devaeux. The video even stars Pusha T as the titular warrior. Warriors itself is a gospel imbued, near spiritual aria.

British producer YOGI turns in this massive, energetic remix of Schoolboy Q’s Hell Of A Night. The original was off the rapper’s album OxyMoron. As for YOGI, he just released his debut EP, Burial, on Skrillex label OWSLA a few weeks ago. Here, he demonstrates his sped up, chopping trap skills, creating an extra filthy specimen out of Hell Of A Night that’s thoroughly dope. A must listen banger off YOGI’s Burial is the Pusha T featuring title track. Tacking it on below.

The new Vice Remix of Linkin Park’s I’ll Be Gone is too dope to gloss over and not give it some time of day. It’s a raging, aggressive, heavy electronic approach that features a rap verse by Pusha T. The remix will be on Linkin Park’s remix album Recharged, which comes out on October 29. Honestly, I dig this remix more than I do LP’s recent collaboration with Steve Aoki, A Light That Never Comes. Though that track is pretty sweet, too. The Vice Remix is chock full of glorified trap, after all. And I like trap. A lot. If you didn’t know already.

OFFICIAL VID: Colin Munroe – The Fight Of My Life feat. Pusha T

September 26, 2012

Canadian singer songwriter and producer Colin Munroe released a video for a track off his mixtape Unsung Hero today. The Fight of My Life features Pusha T and it marks an artist we should keep our eyes on. The hip hop, r&b, pop, and electronic sounds on this track are blended well, complete with some heavy moments of syrupy distortion that fit the almost creepy future pop flavor that has surfaced these days. This song has hit written all over it.
