If you’ve yet to hear the new My Morning Jacket, prepare yourself for something absolutely brilliant. Magic Bullet is the Louisville rock band’s response to all the violence our nation is currently embroiled in. I concur with the positive message they deliver in the song’s lyrics (at a time when too many choose to be negative), and I’m also thoroughly enraptured by Magic Bullet’s psychedelic rock. My Morning Jacket gives us a smoking hot jam that sees the veteran band leaving some of their alt-country roots behind as they venture into far more groovy territory. Its wailing guitar add to the passionate effect of this profoundly rousing call for peace.

Norwegian pop punkers SLØTFACE (fka Slutface) occupy a government approved Nordic Mining post and chemical dump in their new video for must revisit single Sponge State. Activism meets anarchy, a frenzied call to arms much fitting of Sponge State’s riotous energy and vigorous ferocity. Though coarse and raw, the song is melodically gripping, too… It’s a spectacular gem evocative of Paramore with a touch of Flyleaf and some The Joy Formidable. Sponge State will be the title track from SLØTFACE’s forthcoming EP, out May 27th on Propeller Recordings.

I HEART MOOSIQ PREMIERE:

IHM is absolutely delighted and immeasurably honored to premiere The Spirit Of St. Louis, the debut single from a new solo project named Alge (pronounced “algae”).Alge, or Jon Weinman, is currently based in LA, but originally from Brooklyn. He graduated from NYU’s Clive Davis Program for Recorded Music and has honed his craft in Brooklyn producing, writing, and performing with his band Sioux Lion, in addition to writing and producing for other artists. On Spirit Of St. Louis, he weaves a poignant tapestry of haunting emotion and profoundly pensive moodiness. It’s an organic, fluid tempest, and a flurry of swirling, melancholic beauty. According to Alge:

“This track is an invocation of spiritual vision in the face of the modern static that dominates our media and bombards our senses on the daily. The beat is a haunted dirge that pulses with electricity, with lyrics that beckon the listener to look beyond the poisonous media onslaught that tries so hard to confuse, desensitize and alienate us from on another. It’s just a reminder that all roads converge on the inside and that the missing link to our transcendence has been at the tips of our fingers the entire time. We must simply reach for it.”

Alge also created a video for Spirit Of St. Louis. The documentary styled visual was filmed on December 4th, 2014 in New York City. The music video features unmediated footage of the protests against police brutality that arose these past months due to the Michael Brown and Eric Garner injustices.
