There are plenty of rad remixes of Lorde songs off her last album Melodrama floating about, but have you heard this recent remix of Green Light by PINES? As much as all the tracks off Melodrama were brilliant, Green Light is without a doubt my favorite. The Australian duo gives the track an atmospheric blustering, coruscant sparkling future bass re-fix that totally bucks the feel of the original. The green glow of this beautifully diaphanous re-imagination, an orchestral lush transformation, reveals a scintillating new side to Green Light. You can listen to PINES on Spotify, here.

Make your Friday night the “Best Night Ever” and “fire it up” with a magnificent new Tim Gunter remix. The producer from Los Angeles swaddles us with crisp beats, resolute drums, and twinkling xylophone as he transforms the Venice Beach newcomer’s indie electronic debut into a dashing, frolicking bass and trap spectacular. Fire Me Up’s infectious melody shines ebulliently on the charismatic glittering edit, which you can snag for free, here.

I try really hard to be on top of all great new music of all genres on a daily basis, but of course, you can imagine that’s quite the impossible task, considering the sheer amount of music creativity that comes to light every second of every minute of every hour of every day. But I still feel very sheepish and gutted that I missed this new Montmartre up till today. I try to rectify this egregious mistake by sharing White Fields tonight, and as they say, when it comes to good things, it’s never too late, and better late than never. The Parisian electronic duo, who’s named after a neighborhood I fell in love with ever so deeply during my visit last fall, offer up a lush oasis of epic nu-disco rapture on propulsive and lustrous White Fields. The song’s breezy vocals and classy beats are hypnotic and scintillating, a glorious display of Montmartre’s production brilliance. Purchase majestic White Fields from iTunes.

Clean Bandit’s Rather Be, featuring Jess Glynne, is easily one of my top dance tracks of 2014. It’s been championed endlessly on IHM since long before it finally blew up Stateside this past summer (many months after being the huge chart topping hit it was across the pond). As such, I was certainly delighted by and drawn into a deeper, edgier remix of the song by enigmatic new production act Essex, which you can stream below. The anonymous act is said to have massive plans in 2015, but before the arrival of the new year, they’ve also dropped a brand new remix to thrill our ears, above. It’s a tropical, melodic, and vibrant twist on Ed Sheeran’s Don’t. Listening to and getting lost in this, I’ve nearly forgotten it’s winter right now, and a huge, wet storm is brewing on the horizon.

I’m on a roll with the London acts this afternoon. Girlfriends, an incredibly infectious song by another soulful crooner, Joel Compass, has been remixed. The Linier Bootleg leaves the song’s catchy hooks in place, but there’s plenty of bounce and buoyancy to the new rendition created by the UK production duo.

I can’t wait to see Röyksopp & Robyn on tour. I already have my tickets. I’ve loved Robyn for a very long time now, and have never caught her live. To see her tour with the amazing Norwegian electronic production duo Röyksopp is going to be awesome. On top of that, the two have collaborated on a five track mini-album titled Do It Again, out May 26. It’s going to be one sweet trippy electronic pop release. Earlier this week, someone leaked two tracks off the album. I couldn’t wait to jump on it and share the tunes with you, but the powers high above kept stomping out every upload on the internet. It’s with great pleasure that I get to share the official Annie Mac BBC Radio 1 rip of EP title track Do It Again today! New Robyn. New Röyksopp. Together. ‘Nuff said. Let’s dance!

OFFICIAL VID: A-1 – Summertime Sadness prod. by Ryan Hemsworth

November 16, 2013

Honestly, can we ever get enough versions of Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness? There are endless ongs that sample it, covers, remixes… from every genre imaginable. LDR really hit the mark with the chorus of what is likely her most successful sadcore pop song. In the latest version of the fantastic song, San Francisco rapper A-1 flows grittily over tweaked samples and ghostly, somtimes sinister production by none other than buzzing Canadian producer and genius Ryan Hemsworth. It’s a great collaboration utilizing a song that didn’t get enough recognition for what it has spawned. A-1 and Ryan Hemsworth’s version is a welcome addition to the long list of Summertime Sadness renditions.

OFFICIAL VID: Indiana – Mess Around

September 10, 2013

If you recall, back in July, a new artist out of the UK named Indiana made a huge impression on me. Her soulful vocals mixed with haunting, dark, bass infused production was alluring and mesmerizing. This week, she released a video and new song named Mess Around. It’s only been one day, but the clip has already racked up over 50K views on YouTube! It doesn’t surprise me. Nope, not at all. Mess Around is a slow burner of a track. Watch the new video below, and revisit a couple tunes I shared when I first discovered Indiana. Smoking Gun is still my skin crawling, creepy, intense fave.
