All the “frills” without the pretentiousness could very well be this duo’s slogan. New York based New Zealand duo Frills leave us swooning with their resplendent psych funk, dance rock, and disco pop on She’s Got Love. It’s the most intoxicating fusion of Foster The People, Portugal. the Man, and MGMT vibes we’ve ever heard, a delectable jam with suave electric guitar riffs and smooth falsettos. For more Frills, including fine gems we’ve featured in the past, visit their Soundcloud, here.

KUNZITE sure isn’t losing any time in unleashing their music upon us, even though the fascinating new project just made their debut with MONKS a few short weeks ago. And we’re not for complaining at all. Not only are they back with a new single, but the duo, whose ranks include Ratatat’s Mike Stroud and White Flight’s Justin Augustin, have already announced a debut album, too! Birds Don’t Fly is set for release on March 2nd. And the hotly tipped pair regales us with more of their “multidimensional sound stream broadcasting from the inner depths of Earth, while simultaneously emanating from the heart of the Milk Way Galaxy” with VAPORS and its music video. KUNZITE’s sound is not easy to typecast. In fact, it subverts expectations with its spacey pop and dance ready groove. If VAPORS really were a sound stream from space, it’s a swift reminder that space itself is shackled to time… This song seems to defy delineations of eons and epochs. Funk guitars, behemoth pop hooks, and psychedelic flourishes abound on the flashy alt electronic jam. A free download of VAPORS is available from KUNZITE’s website, here

This producer’s chosen pseudonym in the music scene might be Pop Funk, but the Atlanta artist must harbor a steadfast love for all things future bass. He lands on our radar with a track fittingly entitled Everything But Ordinary. There’s nothing ordinary about how infectiously hooking and profusely sweeping this prismatic soaring anthem is; to be accurate, it’s extraordinary. Australian singer songwriter Blake Rose collaborated with Pop Funk on the exultant, triumphant melodic trap song, which exudes an endless stream of impassioned, elated energy. Come on, don’t deny it. You love those bad boys, you can’t help it. They can be total jerks but there’s something irresistible about that swagger, that confidence, and that sexy smirk. LA pop duo Cardiknox pays tribute to their allure on Bad Boys, a funky effulgent, summer springing indie pop jam. Throw caution out the window, get up, and dance the night away to this disco glam soiree, whose frisky vivacity and playful kick evoke POWERS, The Knocks, and The Heirs. Bad Boys is out now on iTunes, here.

October 6th seems to be the biggest release date this fall, with tons of EPs and full lengths all arriving on that fateful day. Yumi Zouma’s sophomore album Willowbank is at the top of our most anticipated list, particularly after the New Zealand dream pop darlings keep revealing enthralling gems off the release. They return once again with Persephone, a wistful yet vibrant disco pop groover that evokes our love for bands like Mausi and Snakadaktal, but with a more gauzy dreamy, feathery light touch. Even the daughter of Zeus wouldn’t be able to resist this sublime, sun dappled tune. Willowbank can be pre-ordered now, here.

To Moscow we go to re-visit with Pompeya as the duo unleashes upon us a heated disco twirler and smoldering dance rock sweeper of an anthem named Domino via an appropriately neon hued dance video. “Fall like a domino” I probably will once I finish dancing my heart out to the vivacious song, its funky licks, and pumping beats. The Russian pop/funk outfit has served up a sizzling hot jam off of their next EP, which arrives July 14th. Domino is both the EP’s lead single and title track. The full Domino EP was produced by none other than esteemed French house producer Fred Falke. Pompeya will be announcing a new tour shortly, too. I wonder what parts of the world it will be bringing them to, and whether San Francisco might be on the schedule.

UK four piece Club Drive recently unveiled the music video for their rambunctious guitar pop single Voyager, a sleek sparkling, glamorous flaring treat that fuses Maroon 5′s funk rock with Fall Out Boy’s pop rock, Two Door Cinema Club’s dance punk, and DNCE’s high energy dance funk. The video documents a day in the life of a struggling homeless man, which reflects the song’s lyrical themes. Club Drive just completed a highly successful UK tour supporting Canadian pop rock band Marianas Trench. They’ll be appearing at several fests this summer in the UK. There’s no sign that this band will be slowing down anytime soon.

It’s been eleven long months since Jojee’s sensuous enchanting debut EP Low Key. It was a fine treat to hear her on Savoy’s Stay earlier this year, but we’ve certainly been missing her husky smoldering voice otherwise. Our patience was tested, but the wait was for good cause. NYC starlet has been hard at work recording her sophomore EP, from which we now get to hear the igneous first single, Poison Fruit. This fiery tart of a sizzling jam is some of the boldest cinematic pop and fiercest R&B pop to arrive on our plates this year. Even if brassy flaring, gutsy blazing Poison Fruit truly were venomous, I’d still lay myself at the mercy of its infectious fangs.

Not only is the new video for Saint Motel’s Destroyer some 360 degree fun (and I’ve had my fun spinning round and round), but their 2016 album saintmotelevision will receive a full on “future is now” sort of treatment too, as it culminates on June 28th with a mobile app launch alongside both its current digital and physical releases. This first of its kind virtual reality album is promised to be an immersive sensory experience. The Los Angeles quartet will be rolling out the remaining videos that go with the album over the next month and a half prior to the VR Mobile App launch. According to official sources: “The Virtualizers are not a replacement for traditional music videos – which the band will continue to make. Instead, they are a separate creative medium allowing for engagements between fans and artists within the virtual realm, all made possible by the proliferation of smartphones and expanding VR technology.” Revisit their funky swinging, brassy bellowing anthem Destroyer via its new visualizer while we await their innovative app. You can purchase the digital version of saintmotelevision via iTunes, here.

In the artwork for their latest single, London’s WOWH offers up a candy heart with the word “suffer” painted across its sugary surface in hot pink. If there’s any suffering to be done here, it’s well hidden behind a slick airy, brisk kicking wall of synthpop and funk pop, making Suffer as much a sweet alluring treat as that candy heart looks to be. A shimmying disco kick endows the duo’s shiny glistening jam. The jaunty dynamics of Formation meets a sliver of cottony kaleidoscopic Unknown Mortal Orchestra on sublime Suffer, out now on iTunes. For more of this emerging production/songwriting duo’s music, head to WOWH’s Soundcloud, here.
