Fresh out of the UK and newly signed to Black Butter Records is this producer, Pablo Nouvelle. His new single You Don’t Understand features the soulful croonings of one ALX, who’s been featured on Zane Lowe’s Next Hype and is considered by BBC Introducing as one of the most exciting young talents to come out of the UK. You Don’t Understand is a gorgeous slow burner of a sultry listen, with an alluring, deep guitar solo, expressing such painful heartbreak. You Don’t Understand is the title track off Pablo Nouvelle’s new EP, out July 29. Check out a couple other spellbinding album cuts below, including Invading My Mind, feat. Fiona Daniel, and Poison, feat. Tulliae, both pairing enchanting vocals with Nouvelle’s dark SOHN like production.

OFFICIAL VID: Thieving Irons – Poison

May 30, 2012

The new video for Thieving Iron’s single Poison plays out very hipster skater-like with bright colors and photograph quality like imagery. The song is an indie pop rocker with a very catchy melody. It’s upbeat, yet chill at the same time, perfect for hanging with your buddies in the skate park. The track will be on Nate Martinez’ new album Behold, This Dreamer (out 6/5). Thieving Irons is his solo project away from Pela. His other Thieving Irons work sounds fringe chillwave-y. I previously shared So Long, which a great number of you liked. Revisit that post here. So Long reminds me of some Washed Out but with a little more edge and slighty harder corners. I’m also reminded of Nada Surf and other great beachy surfy alt rock. I like his sound on this project so far.

Rocket Juice and the Moon previews

November 1, 2011

By now, a large number of you must have heard about the collaboration between Damon Albarn, Flea and Tony Allen (drummer from Fela Kuti). Together as a new group, they call themselves Rocket Juice and the Moon. How many projects does Damon Albarn have going on at ONE moment in time anyway? The guy’s going down as a major legend, that’s for sure. He’s far away from the Blur days now. Rocket Juice and the Moon previewed several tracks live at some live events in Europe, and here’s some acceptably lower quality live recordings. Very funky, retro, worldly, dance-hall-ish, super-Damon Albarn-heavy sound.¬†Whatcha think?¬†
