Chvrches in a roller rink

April 1, 2013

This is gorgeous and mesmerizing. Hot and buzzing Scottish synthpop band Chvrches performed some tunes off their brand new Recovery EP in a makeshift roller rink in Queens. Pitchfork TV filmed it. Here’s the clip they made for Now Is Not The Time. Lauren Mayberry is hypnotizing and exquisite as always. The colors pop like mad. The song is beautiful. I’m looking forward to seeing Chvrches live again in May in an even more intimate venue than the first time I saw them. Gonna be sweet.

Mikky Ekko on Pitchfork TV

February 6, 2013

This is nice. I’ve been raving about Mikky Ekko. He’s a next big thing, seriously. Just the other day, I heard he’ll be featured as a guest on a Rihanna song, so… booyah. Here he is getting interviewed and performing his Clams Casino produced track Pull Me Down live.

The xx documentary

December 18, 2012

You can never get too much of The xx in one day. Pitchfork presented a 3 part documentary well worth checking out if you’re a fan. All 3 parts below. Enjoy. By the way, I’m playing catchup again since I had connectivity issues, so I might have to keep some things short and to the point. May have to share at odd hours or play catchup tomorrow too. Please bear with me.

Oh my, this is lovely. Christopher Owens quit his band Girls not too long ago to pursue a solo career. The fruits of the new labor, his debut solo LP, Lysandre, will release on January 15 in the US on Fat Possum. Today, the man previewed two acoustic cuts off that debut and they’re gorgeous, introspective tracks. Stream Lysandre’s Theme (the intro) and Here We Go (38 secs in) above. The album is somewhat a concept album as it supposedly follows Owens on a road trip across the world from San Francisco to France with stops along the way. At his destination, he falls in love with a girl by the name of Lysandre. I wonder how much of this is romanticized and how much of it is truth not fiction. Also, check out this great pitchfork.tv video where Chris performs tracks in a bathtub in Vegas and get ready to feel real sappy…

Hundred Waters’ Visitor

September 8, 2012

Incredible. Hundred Waters performed a stunning rendition of their song Visitor in a loft in Brooklyn. Pitchfork.tv featured the quiet, breathtaking clip. It was a mere two days ago that I featured Hundred Waters’ incredible stop motion animation video for amazing song Thistle, and now we get this. There’s some fantastic talent in this band.
