Though I no longer have a VHS collection at home (all of my movies are on DVD or Blu-ray), there is a bounteous selection of tunes from NYC trio VHS Collection that I will cherish forever. It’s obvious our love for the band will never go obsolete as the indie trio regales us with their latest single, One, a rambunctious outpouring of sleek pulsing electro-rock and beatific new wave. The sweeping, soaring single is an epic first release of 2018 for the ascending band, whom we’ve been praising for well over two years. VHS Collection hits the road in May with a stop in San Francisco at Popscene/the Rickshaw Stop on May 18th. Guess who’s going to be in attendance and already purchased a ticket? Learn more about the tour on their website, here.

Even though winter seems like forever ago, I still recall January 5th like it was but last night, because that’s when I witnessed the magnificence of Los Angeles based singer songwriter Saro live at Popscene. And now, he’s contributed his remarkable voice to a new song from Slaters, the mysterious Brooklyn duo who held us spellbound earlier this year on debut single Danger, featuring TOULOUSE. One is Slaters’ second official single, a satiny sensuous future bass and misty nostalgic R&B pop tessellation. The single is available now via Terrible Records, here.

It really is a daily international whirlwind of fantastic music here on IHM. The latest pop artist here to steal your heart is a sultry songstress named LILI N from Rome, Italy. R&B tinged electronic pop single One is a hypnotic spell ready to seduce and rivet. One is full of as much sass as it is heavily steeped in smoldering darkness, a captivating combination of both BANKS and AlunaGeorge.

Big Sixes is a three piece from Britain who has been putting out free downloads for about a year now, directing their own music videos and playing shows to a strong local following. A few days ago, the indie rock outfit released their debut EP, The Idles, on soundcloud. Brooding, moody, and gut wrenching EP track Unless I’m Mistaken is a captivating, affecting gem. Both soothing and raw, it’s a gorgeous, melodious offering. For another swooning, chamber pop imbued pick off the EP, stream charming One, below. You can listen to the full five track EP, here.

If Kyiki sounds familiar to you, it’s because she’s from Crystal Fighters, plus, she was featured on Moon Boots’ Don’t Ask Why near the beginning of the year. Turns out, the English songstress is embarking on a solo career as well, and she released a gorgeous debut ballad a couple months ago named One. How I missed it back then, I have no idea, but I’ve discovered it, thanks to a new remix by German producer LCAW, which I’ll get to below. First, let’s get swept away by Kyiki’s One, a soaring, magnificent electropop gem, full on breathtaking and intoxicating. LCAW gives the track a more silken atmosphere on his dreamy indie deep house remix that’s quite luscious and entrancing.

So, guess who covered Swedish House Mafia? Autograf! The Chicago electronic act has created one helluva delicious, balmy jam out of SHM’s massive banger One. The magical take even has some future house flavors along with its warm tropical vibe. I just want to sink into it and forget all my worries. So… blissful…

OH yay! I was waiting for this!

Damien Rice’s cover of U2’s One!!! It’s one of the covers off the U2 tribute album with a stellar list of talent. Out of the WHOLE list, this was the one I was MOST excited for. The moment I saw Damien Rice’s name next to One, I knew it was going to be something other worldly. One is perfect for Rice. Rice is perfect for One. Doesn’t get much better than this.
