I know we promptly shared this song when it first came out last year, but we’re so fond of Raindrop and this Bay Area band, Hot Flash Heat Wave, that we simply can’t resist featuring the new music video that’s arrived today too. Plus, we could really use the “heat” on a cold January day like this one. HFHW pairs their surfy, grunge-y garage rock tune, a treat this Pixies fan can’t help but love, with a splashy chromatic music video shot right here in San Francisco. As mentioned previously, sunlit twangs and saccharine 60s vibes abound on this stellar jam, which is lifted off Hot Flash Heat Waves’ sohphomore album Soaked, out now via OIM Records. Be Calm Honcho’s Bad Man now comes with its own stunning video, a rather dark and eerie clip that goes perfectly well with the song’s haunting fusion of synthpop and alt pop. The San Francisco based band entraps me all over again in their bewitching song, one of Be Calm Honcho’s most inky sleek offerings to date. Bad Man explores addiction and vices, trauma and anguish. It’s no wonder it hits heavy, somber, and hard. Bad Man is out now on Oakland label OIM Records. Head to Bandcamp to grab the tune.

San Francisco’s very own genre defying indie trio, Be Calm Honcho, dazzles on their new single Bad Man, out now via Oakland label OIM Records. Bad Man is a smokey simmering, soulful sophisticated alt pop song permeated with rich pensive, dreamy ethereal electronica. The tormented lyrics of the song add to Bad Man’s dark, cinematic allure. The single is available from Bandcamp.

The latest treat revealed off of OIM Records’ next compilation release is a fantastic track from another talented local band. Get It Right Now comes from Oakland’s The Tambo Rays, and it’s a perky hooking pop rock jewel. This duo consists of members from WATERS, another terrific San Francisco band (now re-located to Southern California) oft praised on IHM. As The Tambo Rays, this pair gives us glistening warm, shimmer vivacious pop that recalls the mid-’00s days of Shout Out Louds and Metric. Get It Right Now is zestful and addictive, bouncy and fun. OIM: Vol. 11 is shaping up to be another sublime compendium of indie brilliance. Pre-order the compilation ahead of its July 22nd release date from Bandcamp or OIM Records.

Esteemed local label OIM Reords is preparing to release the second edition of their compilation series on July 22nd, and the first single revealed from OIM Vol. II is a rock and roll jam from San Francisco’s Hot Flash Heat Wave. Bye Bye Baby is a lo-fi scuzzy breakup anthem. The four piece’s influences include Beach Boys, Santo & Johnny, and Weezer, and there’s certainly plenty of garage punk and surf rock vibes on their bristling jam. Hot Flash Heat Wave also unleashed a music video for the song today. The VHS styled video launches us right back into the past. For more about OIM Vol. II, head to OIM Records’ website or pre-order from Bandcamp.

I’ve been a fan of San Francisco’s French Cassettes ever since I had the pleasure of catching them in an intimate living room set, courtesy of Sofar Sounds SF. The indie band contributed an unreleased song to OIM Records’ new Bay Area compilation. Right Talk was previously the only B-side off the band’s debut album Gold Youth. The song, with its crunchy rock guitars, ardent pop vocals, and enveloping warmth is the perfect example of French Cassette’s endearing, sun drenched sound.
