The phrase “love actually” used to remind me of the British rom-com film of the same name, which I’m sure most of you have seen countless times over the years, particularly around the holidays. But now I associate it with Anglo-Danish project Off Bloom, who recently shared a charming music video for their song Love Actually. How we missed out on featuring the single last month when it first surfaced confuses me, but it’s likely we were running around Austin for SXSW at the time. Now, a new visual accompaniment gets to key us all into the trio’s airy spry electro and alt pop on the weightless prancing, dreamy sauntering gem. As it turns out, Off Bloom’s Love Actually is an ode to the film I previously mentioned. It’s inspired by its pure and innocent love, which never seems to exist quite so simply outside of movies. Oh, but if it could… Stream/download the song, here.

Earlier this month, Hudson Mohawke collaborators and genre defying alt talents Off Bloom released their five track EP, Lover Like Me, on Capitol Records. The title track is an excellent sampling of the Anglo-Danish trio’s trademark blend of noise pop, dancehall, and spry electronica that sounds kind of like MS MR, NAATIONS, and Mura Masa, all wrapped up in one epic glistering, vivacious capering song. Off Bloom’s new EP includes their song with Hudson Mohawke, “rockefe11a (F**k That To Be Honest), as well as previously shared tunes like Shut Up And Let Me Walk and more. Speaking about the EP’s creation, the band explains, “This EP is about love, sex, frustration, intoxication and of course loyalty loyalty loyalty. It’s a culmination of tracks that came together at very different times of our lives, all representing what we were feeling at the time, but with a similar vibe running through them.” Purchase the EP from iTunes, here.

Fresh off the bedazzlement of their genre defying and breezy vibrant single Shut Up And Let Me Walk as well as their Hudson Mohawke-produced track ‘Rockefe11a (F**k That To Be Honest)’ comes yet another banging tune from Off Bloom’s forthcoming 5-track EP titled Lover Like Me, due out on October 20 via Capitol Records. The rising Anglo-Danish trio dishes out bouncy beats and a balmy burst of four to the floor electronica Golden Dreams, a truly incendiary tune.

Speaking about the EP, the band commented, “This EP is about love, sex, frustration, intoxication and of course loyalty, loyalty, loyalty. This group of songs represents the last 3-4 months of our lives – our ups and downs, our fuck-ups and successes, our loves and losses. We had an amazing time creating this EP and got to experience so much, and those experiences shaped the music. We just want to connect to the people listening to these tracks and hopefully some people will see themselves in the music and in us and want to join the bloominati.” Stream/download this cool yet fierce dance jam, here.

Anglo-Danish trio Off Bloom bring a bounty of sass and spunk on their new dazzling single, Shut Up And Let Me Walk. It’s a pop and dancehall, alt electronica meets R&B dance banger with a breezy Balearic accent. Shut Up And Let Me Walk is a summery bop reminiscent of  and Major Lazer, with the bold edginess of NAATIONS and the mischievous tartness of AlunaGeorge. Off Bloom has been shaping up to be one of the exciting blooming acts to watch in the pop/dance scene. Its members have worked with immense talent in the past, including Tove Lo, Goss, AlunaGeorge, and more. And the London based project has been been working with HudMo, Kid Harpoon, and many more on new material to come. Re-visit their prior songs on Soundcloud, here, while we wait for those treats.

On the heels of ace 2016 EP Love To Hate It comes a fierce new tune from Anglo-Danish trio Off Bloom. Falcon Eye’s edgy electronic pop is exotic and arresting. Its bold tweaking, dark bewitching demeanor brings to mind a mixture of Elliphant, Kate Boy, and M.I.A. The intrepid anthem is an impassioned display of this rising band’s dauntless creativity and bravado. “Shake it like you want it all,” sings Off Bloom on Falcon Eye. I’m convinced by this vociferous song that what Off Bloom wants, they shall get. Falcon Eye is out now on Polydor.

Anglo-Danish trio Off Bloom is easily one of my favorite new encounters this year. Friday saw the release of the band’s debut EP as well as the arrival of a music video for its title track, Love To Hate It, an edgy captivating mesh of innovative dancehall production with edgy bold pop.

MØ, Tove Lo, and Elliphant like spunkiness is paired with a Jack Ü meets Years & Years like dance soundscape, making this one of the catchiest slices of electronic pop to arise all year long. For another can’t miss cut off the three piece’s new EP, stream dark haunting, glitchy snaking Orchid below. Off Bloom’s Love To Hate It EP is available from iTunes. It’s glaringly apparent, Off Bloom is a huge rising act to watch.
