I was wildly obsessed with Meg Myers and her debut album Sorry back in 2015. The Nashville artist, based out of Los Angeles, absolutely transfixed us with her phenomenally fierce and impassioned vocals, as well as her dark and turbulent form of alt rock and pop. It was almost unbelievable to witness that much volatile energy exploding out of Meg. And now, after a far too excruciating wait, Meg Myers is back, with moody scalding, grunge tinged panache, too. Much akin to Torres with some of the sheer force of Alanis Morissette, Numb bursts wide open at the seams with angst ridden ennui. It’s a glorious track that combusts with punky roaring guitars. Along with the magnificent new tune comes welcome news of Meg Myers’ sophomore album, Take Me to the Disco, arriving July 20th. She’ll also be hitting the road on a short tour this summer. Find out more about both via her website, here.

If you’ve yet to encounter Pluko and have no idea how adept this rising producer is, I can assure you, you’re going to start seeing the name a whole lot more as the year continues to progress. The 17 year old Pittsburgh producer (what’s with the burgeoning Pittsburgh electronic scene?), will convince you of his talent in one remix. Get ready for dark swiveling synths and gorgeously rendered instrumentals on Pluko’s remix of Hayden James’ lush and sensual, limber and supple beauty, NUMB, featuring GRAACE. It’ll probably remind you of Flume and What So Not’s hit singles with the likes of Kai and George Maple, tracks that happen to be some of my favorite electronic tracks of this decade. But let’s not stop there, continue your electronic escapade by dissolving into the ambient beauty of Pluko’s original, her. If Explosions In The Sky ever went the future bass route, it might sound something like this immensely moving, breathtakingly profound piece.

UPDATE: In a sheepish moment of realization, I now know that Pluko is Pluto, who had to change his name for legal reasons. So yes, of course Pluko is talented, we love Pluto!

Lush sensual strings and GRAACE’s flawless voice greets our ears as we wade into Hayden James’ phenomenal new single, NUMB. We’re anything but numb as we melt into the Australian producer’s supple and limber new aria, which starts like a Rhye and J.Views composition before a soft beat kicks in and takes us on a slow burn trip to sonic Eden. Wave upon wave of luscious synths wash over us on the chill electronic opus, which showcases a whole new level of Hayden James’ production dexterity. NUMB is pure elegance, and total celestial bliss. The single is out now on Future Classic. Download and stream, here.

Numb you most certainly won’t be after you listen to the latest from Trevor James Tillery. The Los Angeles based singer songwriter makes us feel plenty with his moody whirring electro pop on ‘Numb.’. Deep rumbling percussion and Tillery’s creamy vocals make this new single a must for fans of Jaymes Young’s molten pop as well as James Blake’s riveting soundscapes. The single can be streamed or downloaded via alternate outlets, here.

Florescent rippling synthpop and smoky burning R&B entraps the heart and never lets it go as we dive full force into the driving magnificence of Numb, the latest from Los Angeles by way of the Bay trio Wake The Wild. Numb is the perfect song to take us into the weekend. Despite its poignant & introspective moodiness, Numb is also an exhilarating adventure brimming with luscious synths and creamy cooing. “Every weekend we get numb numb numb…” Perhaps this weekend will be no different. And so the destructive cycle begins yet again. Recklessness, debauchery, heartbreak, regret…. Watch the video for Numb below. The single is out now via AWAL/KOBALT.

Danelle’s silken airy, elegant stirring pop is the perfect material for some transcendental remixing by French duo Dim Sum. Numb gets a nu-disco sleek edit brimming with succulent chopping future vibes. No one’s going to be numb after Dim Sum enchants and entrances with this beauty of a remix, its cool soothing, honeyed bubbling soundscape a refreshing treat on a hot summer day.

As if Numb isn’t already an exceptionally haunting tapestry of delicate folktronica and complex dark alt pop on its own, its new music video only adds to the magic and allure of Lupa J’s striking gem. The imaginative Australian artist, who channeled her classically trained violinist past into contemporary electronic music at the young age of 15, dances and lurches in various locations on the video. The edgy bold gravity of the icy visuals combines with the ghostly ambiance of Numb to transfix in a Daughter meets Poliça like fashion. Numb comes from Lupa J’s forthcoming EP, My Right Name. The song is available to be purchased from Bandcamp.

Though this song is named Numb, I feel the polar opposite when These Brittle Bones whisks me away on the wondrous song. Numb twinkles dreamily, a twilight concerto full of soft grandeur. The 17 year old singer songwriter and producer is based out of Singapore, though he’s originally from Wales. His wavering voice cracks with emotion, tugging at heart strings with its aching lament. Numb can be felt in your bones, and it certainly displays much brittle fragility, a fitting song from an act named These Brittle Bones. The song is available now from iTunes. These Brittle Bones will be releasing a new EP entitled Effects later this Spring.

Numb leaves me far from numb, an exquisitely haunting new jewel from Australia’s Lupa J, the incredibly talented classically trained violinist who made a transition to contemporary electronic music when she was but 15. On Numb, she exhibits a strong grasp of both orchestral and synthetic elements, creating a chillingly delicate folktronica and complexly nuanced alt pop aria that seems to fuse Daughter like atmospheric catharsis with Poliça’s enveloping richness. Numb, which the artist recorded, wrote, and produced all herself, is the first single from Lupa J’s forthcoming EP, My Right Name. Purchase the spectacular single from Bandcamp.

Sam Brookes – Numb (Phaeleh Remix)

May 30, 2014

Here’s some more sumptuous downtempo electronic music for you from British producer Phaeleh. His new remix of folk artist Sam Brookes’ Numb is a haunting, somber beauty. The slow slinking, breathtaking track debuted earlier today on MrSuicideSheep’s YouTube channel.
