CRSSD Fest – Day 2 – The Palms – 515 to 6pm. Matoma is personally an act I can’t miss. Someone asked me before to classify it. Was it tropical hip hop? Was it a fusion of nu-disco and house? All I told him was “it’s that good shit”. Sensational mash ups and remixs.

SoCal’s NGHTMRE is crazy blowing up these days, and deservedly so. After making his EDC debut just this past June, he’s scheduled to play the main stages of a long list of fests Labor Day weekend, closing out a magnificent summer indeed. To celebrate that fact, he’s presenting us his wicked remix of Canadian trap trio Keys N Krates’ “classic” track Dum Dee Dum. It’s a raging edit that NGHTMRE has been dropping in his live sets for some time now. We all know, or at least this Keys N Krates fan knows, how banging and slamming the infectious original already is, but NGHTMRE’s remix is even more gloriously down and dirty. Mixed into the earth shaking track is a sampling of Notorious B.I.G. Filthy and tipsy, best combo ever. Download NGHTMRE’s remix for free, here.

NYC duo The Jane Doze have proven time and time again in the past that they can create massively satisfying flips and mash ups. Get ready to float around the room in pure bliss to their latest, a mash of Kygo, Ed Sheeran, and Notorious B.I.G. named I See Cali. It’s basically a blend of Going Back To Cali with Kygo’s version of I See Fire. I know they’re dealing with some cold weather out there, but this makes Cali seem even more of a paradise than it really is. It’s not really that tropical, that warm, and that sublime all the time…. or, is it? Sure it is! Cali rules. We don’t have blizzards.

Biggy’s back, with this new remix of Juicy by Canadian newcomer Shèmce, who gives the classic some bouncy disco pop and airy tropical vibe. Like I mentioned before, it’s fantastic that all these old classics are getting sweet updates by producers lately. Juicy’s never been more lightweight and whimsical.

I’m nearly jumping out of my skin waiting impatiently for new music from Cleveland alt pop band SomeKindaWonderful after being utterly swept off my feet by their debut single Reverse earlier this year. It’s still one of my favorite alt pop songs of the year. SomeKindaWonderful’s debut album comes out on June 24. Though they haven’t given us much new music to hear off the album, they have given us a fantastic cover of 2Pac’s California Love. They continue to put a sultry, smokey, brooding spin on classic hip hop tracks with this brand new cover of Notorious B.I.G.’s Juicy. The alt take on the rap classic reminds me greatly of The Neighbourhood. It’s dark, yet smoldering hot. Now, I have this irresistible urge to listen to Reverse again, so let’s tune in below…
