OFFICIAL VID: Temples – Mesmerize

January 21, 2014

I was hooked the moment I heard UK psych rock band Temples about half a year ago. Their brand of neo-psychedelic music reminded me of a cross between the more psychedelic era of the Beatles and Aussie psych power act Tame Impala. Today, the band dropped a video for their new single Mesmerize, which will be out on limited 7" come February 17. Temples’ debut album Sun Structures will be out February 11 on Fat Possum, and guess who already pre-ordered? With such a fantastic sound and with a huge name like Noel Gallagher on their side, it’s not too out of left field to say that Temples is an act to watch in 2014.

Acidic Noel Gallagher

March 1, 2012

There was a ton of noise this past year due to the excitement over Noel Gallagher’s post-Oasis project High Flying Birds. The self titled debut album produced a lot of buzz in 2011. Mr. Gallagher also continued to produce endless buzz himself via dramatics and theatrics. In the meantime, he promised yet another album, this time a collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous. Here’s the first track from that collaboration, Shoot A Hole In The Sun. The super acid-rock track is actually a reworking of a High Flying Birds track, If I Had A Gun. And though I’m not a huge fan of High Flying Birds, I must say, this eight minute reworking is genius and a trip of a track. I’m sorry I don’t have a video filled with psychedelic  colorful visuals to go along with the track. It would only be fitting…

Latest Jools performances: Noel Gallagher and Björk

November 23, 2011

Noel Gallagher performed “AKA…What a Life” from High Flying Birds, and Björk performed her beautiful Crystalline off of Biophilia. I think I still like Thunderbolt (Tesla coils included) out of what I’ve heard and watched off Biophilia so far. And as far as I can tell, Noel is still throwing out some mad drama into the press these days. I guess all publicity is good publicity?

OFFICIAL VID: Noel Gallagher – Aka.. What a Life

Here’s the new video for Noel Gallagher’s Aka.. What a Life, off his upcoming solo album. It’s definitely a VERY interesting video… and on top of that, it has Russell Brand, which only makes it that much more interesting (or should I say, odd?). I like the darkness and quirkiness. Skip to 3:30 for the actual song if you don’t want to wade through the strange Brand intro. From what I can glean, it seems to be a reference or play on a sinister interpretation of Alice in Wonderland. The song itself is pretty decent too; I’m starting to think Noel Gallagher’s solo album might actually be fairly good.

New Noel Gallagher song

As much as I’m sick of hearing all the Noel Gallagher drama and all the disrespectful ranting against other artists, I can’t help checking out his new tunes and I do still have much respect for Oasis despite. This is one just previewed over the weekend, and it’s quite enjoyable. Gotta separate the drama and the talent, right? Unless it gets too bad and the amount and quality of talent doesn’t backup all the BS (ahem, Kanye).

Well, this is surprising…

Listened to the new Noel Gallagher track AKA.. What a Life. I guess I was expecting the usual stuff, this is much more dance-y and upbeat than what I thought it’d be and it’s actually quite catchy and could grow on me. That’s proof to ya to always keep your mind open and check things out.. was getting a lil sick of all the Gallagher brothers’ drama and BS flying around the machine and all the attitude in the past that Oasis put up despite major landscape changing work back in the day (respect just the same of course). It ain’t genius but hey not bad at all! Growing, growing…
