Nilüfer Yanya blew our minds last year when the young London artist made a stunning debut on Small Crimes, a tender and atmospheric downtempo soul ballad that brought together a myriad of sounds we love from the likes of Daughter, Låpsley, Nina Simone, Jorja Smith, and Lianne La Havas. We immediately named her an artist to watch and she hasn’t disappointed since. Re-visit our feature of Small Crimes, here. This week, Nilüfer Yanya is back with a gently sashaying jazz-pop and R&B soul number named Thanks 4 Nothing. Her mellow and honeyed vocals dance weightlessly across the song’s delicate but fancy guitar curls. Thanks 4 Nothing is a soft and jazzy late night ballad, but it marches its way towards steadfast resolution, too. Watch Nilüfer Yanya’s music video for Thanks 4 Nothing below. The single is out now on Blue Flowers and ATO Records. Find it via major outlets, here.

There’s a pristine, snowy beauty to Nilüfer Yanya and her stripped down and intimate brand of music. New song Baby Luv is as understated as they come, yet it’s unique fusion of acoustic soul and vintage flavored guitar pop is supremely potent. The song is a mighty follow up to

Nilüfer Yanya’s acclaimed EP, Plant Feed, from earlier this year, a must listen on Soundcloud, here. There’s an inquisitive spryness to Baby Luv that tickles and bedevils. I find it incredibly addicting. Baby Luv is out now via Blue Flowers/ATO Records, here. The Londoner will be announcing more music soon.

There’s something about Nilüfer Yanya’s voice that I can’t resist. Her singing seems to come so easily. The Londoner cool, effortless R&B soul vocals are beautiful, like a sea on a tranquil evening, with soft, supple ripples, reflecting the glow of a distant moon. It’s spacious and open out by that shoreline, yet twilight has never felt more intimate as we sway to the jazzy soulfulness of new track Golden Cage, a second taste from Nilüfer Yanya’s new EP Plant Feed, a sure to be phenomenal follow up to her last stellar EP, The Florist. Golden Cage sounds like a jam session involving Tom Misch, Erykah Badu, and Jorja Smith. Plant Feed will be out June 9th via Blue Flowers.

The intimate appeal of Nilüfer Yanya’s music is undeniable. I’m still obsessing over her debut EP, Small Crimes, yet here the Londoner is again with another captivating new single, The Florist. The song’s sparse acoustics leaves plenty of room for her soulful voice to bloom ever so enticingly and beautifully. The Florist is soft and cottony, but it also boasts a slow building groove effused with sweeping vitality. The single is out now via Blue Flowers. You can also stream The Florist via Soundcloud below.

It’s the same sort of haunting acoustics and snug intimate R&B soulfulness that lures me into Nilüfer Yanya’s Keep On Calling that first drew me to her on last single Small Crimes. The 20 year old newcomer is making some major waves out of London with the singer songwriter’s tender atmospheric, smoky hovering music. Having been influenced by the likes of Nina Simone and Jeff Buckley, she brings an earthy stirring charm to her own music, draping it with a beautiful gauzy airiness that evokes Daughter with a touch of Lianne La Havas. The mellow groover is out now on iTunes.

Nilüfer Yanya’s Small Crimes is such a gorgeous song, it’d be a “gargantuan crime” not to give it another share now that the 20 year old British newcomer has unleashed an intimately captivating visual accompaniment. It should come as no surprise after listening to Small Crimes that Nina Simone and Jeff Buckley count among Nilüfer Yanya’s inspirations. This tender atmospheric gem also reminds me of Daughter and Låpsley with a touch of Jorja Smith and Lianne La Havas’ cozy stirring soulfulness. “I am a vandal”, sings Nilüfer Yanya in her husky yet delicate voice. Indeed you are… a vandal of my heart, which I willingly offer to this stunning song. Small Crimes is out now on iTunes.

20 year old London newcomer Nilüfer Yanya presents us with a gently melting lullaby named Small Crimes. The singer songwriter counts Nina Simone and Jeff Buckley among her inspirations, but the tender acoustics and atmospheric beauty of her debut song are also reminiscent of Daughter and Låpsley, though more stripped down and sparse. A bit of early The xx can also be detected in its more expansive build ups, with the soulfulness of Jorja Smith and Lianne La Havas. Small Crimes is simply stunning. There’s no overstating the amount of excitement blooming within me for this new artist.
