Niki & The Dove is without a doubt one of my favorite Swedish bands. I’ve been in love with the pair since well before the release of debut album Instinct back in 2012. Malin and Gustaf return this week with a new tune named Sushi King, which just seems perfect in so many ways. I love Niki & The Dove. I love sushi. As it turns out, when you put the two together, it results in amplified sonic magnificence. Sushi King is a heady shimmering, dreamy warbling cut on which Malin is ever bewitching with her unique voice. Sushi King jabs and coils, a surreal and psychedelic trip that would be fine complementary company to their fellow electro soulful Swedes, Little Dragon. You can purchase Sushi King from iTunes as we look ahead with hope that the song is an omen of more to come from Niki & The Dove.

I don’t know about you, but I, for one, am ecstatic that Niki & The Dove is back. The Swedish electropop band was one of my favorite emerging bands in IHM’s earlier days, and I even own a copy of their 2012 debut album, Instinct, on limited edition vinyl. This week, Niki & the Dove reveals a new single from their long awaited sophomore album, Everybody’s Heart Is Broken, due out April 8th. Malin’s vocals are as bewitching as ever on So Much It Hurts. The band goes retro pop and dreamy R&B on the grooving new tune that takes us back to 80′s era, luxuriantly ravishing Prince. Stream So Much It Hurts via Spotify above or Soundcloud below.

I’m a huge fan of Sweden’s Niki & The Dove, having encountered their earliest songs at the beginning of the decade and falling in love immediately. I even own their debut album Instinct on vinyl, and it’s been a very long three year wait for new music from the trio. We finally get to hear Malin’s enchanting voice again on new single Play It On My Radio, a surprisingly yet delightfully downtempo and relaxed synthpop song. The dreamy R&B tinged piece is considerably more WET and Shura than their earlier Robyn or The Knife like jams. Niki & The Dove is welcome to play it on my radio anytime, all day long. Stream the soothing new tune on Spotify above or Soundcloud below, and wait with me for even more new Niki as we pray for a sophomore album.

By now, I’m sure everyone’s heard about the surprise Skrillex album in some way, shape, or form. The album is titled Recess, and Sonny Moore gave no hint before this morning that he was going to drop a bomb on us. The 11 track album features a long list of amazing collaborators and showcases Skrillex’s burgeoning, growing ability to incorporate different genres into his music. I noticed this over the past year, and at his live show when he did his series of Takeovers quite recently (note to self, pay parking citation from that night, ugh). Instead of sharing the whole thing, as many have done, I’m presenting a few choice cuts that I liked a lot immediately. Above, stream the title track Recess, which features Kill The Noise, Fatman Scoop, and Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit. Seriously, all the tracks are super dope, but these are ones that stood out more from the boundless drops and beats earlier this morning on first listen. Check out the more subtle (as if Skrillex is ever subtle, ha) Stranger below, featuring KillaGrahm. I was also much delighted and surprised when I reached track number 10 and Niki & The Dove’s DJ Ease My Mind suddenly came into the picture. I’ve been a huge fan of that song for like, four years now, and really loved Niki & The Dove’s debut album 2 years ago. They’ve been silent as hell for the past while, and this Skrillex flip of the tune was a real pleasant surprise. Check it out below, too! To stream the full album, head over here.

Dangit. I’ve been vetting a ton of all kinds of music and creating a long list that I might have to share partly during the weekend, but I’m getting completely sidetracked. I seem to be bitten by the Friday bug and I can’t stay away from the dope ready for the weekend remixes! You gotta check out this sick reimagining of Alex Metric and Jacques Lu Cont’s Safe With You by Toronto trio Keys N Krates. I’m already super fond of the original track, which features Malin from Niki & The Dove, but this Keys N Krates remix is just so heavy, trappy, and satisfying. I might almost dig it more than the original! This might be a fave remix find of the day for me!

Do you remember this catchy track I shared back in June? The collaboration between producers Alex Metric & Jacques Lu Cont received the music video treatment, and as someone who used to love watching figure skating, it’s some mesmerizing stuff. It’s like less trippy Cyriak video art meets pairs figure skating! The catchy electropop track features none other than Malin of Niki & The Dove on vocals. She has such an easily recognizable Scandinavian voice.

Producers Alex Metric and Jacques Lu Cont teamed up for this make you dance track titled Safe With You which features none other than Malin from Niki and the Dove! As a huge fan of Niki & The Dove, I can’t begin to describe how wonderful it is to hear Malin’s vocals again on a fresh track. Jacques Lu Cont and Alex Metric have really crafted a heckuva summer dance anthem. I’m soooo dancing to this later at home. Hopefully, I’ll get groove to it on the dance floor this weekend if I get to hit up Alex Metric live! Stream the BBC Radio rip from the debut of the track above.
